Monday musing with Morti!

There’s been a lot of chatter on the internet recently about dogs and their nicknames, so I wanted to clear up that my full name is actually Mortimer. Although I think Mortimer might actually be my middle name, because sometimes the humans get agitated and say “Dam**t Mortimer! “ when there are no squirrels to be seen 🤷

I’m told I can’t be trusted alone, I say there was almost certainly a squirrel spy in there.

Saturday sweetie!
Miss Millie is learning slowly that the world is a safe place with her foster family.
Time and patience is key for many rescue dogs as they learn to navigate their new lives ❤️
Millie is also learning to trust her canine foster siblings, but as of yet she’s just too unsure to fully interact with them. Her foster family is doing an amazing job of keeping everyone safe 🎉🎉🎉

Secondly, this guy has some stuff going on with his back legs … he has an appointment this afternoon with our vet to assess and make a plan and get some pain meds, so we sure could use $5 to help!!

Yesterday we posted up Beethoven. And thanks to a great foster offer, we will be bringing this guy into rescue tomorrow.
Beethoven will be very happy to get sprung,and hopefully he enjoys car rides.
We felt that we had to open a spot for this guy, but money is still tight. Like all rescues we are feeling the pinch. It will feel really good to intake a new dog, and we would like to keep the good feelings flowing. To do that we need your support.

Big happy news! Mr. Bosley Bear is adopted and into his forever home! It might have been a rocky road for him to find his people but he did! He is settling in with them so nicely, he is loving being a “big brother” to the boys in the family. Happy Tails to the sweetest boy!

🚨Urgent Foster Needed🚨 please like and share.
It has just come to our attention that 7yr old Beethoven is in need of rescue. We are told that he is very sweet. But maybe a little confused with his current situation boarded with animal control.
This rescue is a little personal for us. As Beethoven was adopted by a fellow rescuer in 2021. Due to a major health issue for his mom, Beethoven found himself in need of a new home/rescue.
We are gathering details about him. But right now, need to find a foster home fast. So we can go get him. Sooner the better!
We have available a 5'x10' or 5'×5' kennel to seperate him for a safe and comfortable soft landing. He may be good with other animals. But we are still learning details. We are told he was currently the last dog in the home. A dog free foster home would be ideal for him to begin. But, all it really takes is a volunteer willing to give him some time to adjust and decompress if needed. Please message us at gotdrool.org if you can help. Colorado residents, 21+ only please.

Monday musings with Morti!!

I thought I would share a little throw back to when I helped raise awareness for something called “siber security” at my foster mom’s work.
I had the most important job that day, I had to look adorable and get pets while the humans talked about fish and passwords 🤷
Also, there were squirrels all over, so I was able to do my other job or defending the humans from that nonsense!

Monday musings with Morti!

You know, when they said I was coming to Colorado from Texas, they said it wasn’t so hot here. Did they not know, or did I bring the heat with me?
Anywho…. My foster mom says it’s too hot to walk during the day, so she gets me up during the LSA hour ( low squirrel activity ) which is BEFORE the sun comes up! I love a brisk morning walk as much as the next dog, but how am I supposed to warn the squirrels that I’m still here when my daily walk is before they get up for their shenanigans???

The good news is, that after our walk, my foster mom lets me nap on the bed while she gets ready for work.

🚨Help! "Pictures in the comments" Millie is in need of a different foster situation. There were high hopes that Millie would do great right out of the gate with a potential adopter. But... the other female dog in the home is very submissive, and frightened by Millie. Who may be jealous of the friendliness between the female and her travel buddy Marvin.
Millie could really use a break. The ideal situation for her would be a foster/or adopter who can give her some one on one time. She is very sweet and walks well.
Millie now has child experience. And also did not show an interest in cats.
We need help quickly. Hopefully someone who has already put in a CSBR application in the past.
Millie should do just fine with other dogs in a new situation we think. But it would be best for now to suggest males. Unless you are able to seperate for a few days. Millie is very small for a Saint.
Please help if you can, Millie has been waiting for the good life since April.

Miss Margot went to her new spot last night ( a recently approved adopter ) and spent this morning sniffing around her new garden 🥰

If all continues to go well she will stay here, they are already so in love with her and she was following them around the house without a care in world within an hour

Millie and Marvin have arrived 🤗
During Saturdays event at Water 2 Wine🍷
Brian slipped away to welcome these new kids to their new life. Marvin was a little nervous coming off transport. But quickly found comfort in the arms of his foster mom. Millie also had a little reluctance to exit the transport. She pancake for a moment, then made a bee line for our van.
Millie and Marvin were set to have separate foster homes. But after seeing how much confidence the two had together. It was decided to keep them together. It is a relief to finally have Millie and Marvin in our hands. Veteranary care is next. Please remember to put a little something in the collection basket for our new arrivals. They will greatly appreciate it.

Saturday's event at ~Water 2 Wine~ was a lot of fun. We thank them for hosting Colorado Saint Bernard Rescue at yet another fantastic night of fundraising.
This was a great outing for many dogs.
Our new to CSBR bonded siblings Maggie and Gus,made their first showing.
The amazingly sweet Bosley came to chill also. And the oddly not scooped up yet Po ta toe, also made an appearance.
As did some CSBR alumni, that I just did not manage to get pictures of.
We also welcomed Millie and Marvin to Colorado as the event was underway.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support CSBR. We just can not express how wonderfully inspiring events like this are for the volunteers.

It’s Friday!!!
And what a week it’s been!
This week we are featuring a bonded pair of 6 year old saints Gus and Maggie!
These two darlings come to us when their moms health issues made it too difficult to care for them properly 💔
These bonded babies are cat friendly and house trained
They don’t have much leash experience, but are sweet as pie 🥧
Now for the ask ( you knew it was coming)
Maggie needs a TPLO. This is pricey. Can you spare $5 to help this girl get the medical care she needs?

Her adopters have tried everything to provide an environment that is both safe for their child and allows Margot to stay with them, and have come to the unfortunate position where Margot simply cannot stay with them 😢

We have had a lot of unforseen medical costs from January through July.
We are not just asking for donations, we are telling you that we need them.
CSBR adoption fees cover less than half of expenses per dog. We rely upon donations to ensure that every dog receives all of the necessary care they deserve.
Please share and let your friends know that this is a worthy cause that is near and dear to you. Everything counts right now.
$5 could make the difference of a dog finding it's way to CSBR. If enough people are willing to take the time to show their support.

Potato is a sweet boy looking for his forever home. He is a Shepard mix that is about 5 months old. He does have that puppy energy, but is eggar to please. Sunday Funday With Clarissa and Potato 🤗 Clarissa is a beautiful young girl. She is dog friendly (with some food resource guarding) She will take treats while sitting beside another dog. But meals should be separate time. Clarissa is a young dog ,with young energy. Potato is going to be 16 weeks June 2nd. And is beginning to break a bit from his teething behaviors. He was a very mouthy pup. But has learned to replace hands with toys. He loves friends, and when he is not puppy napping. He is always ready to romp around with his foster sisters.

Apparently there’s only one good toy in the yard this morning 🤷‍♀️

Please take the time to watch this video an ER veterinarian made regarding GDV/Bloat and gastropexy. This is why we have this procedure done on every Saint that comes into rescue. It helps prevent bloat from occurring and helps buy them time to get to a vet in the unfortunate event they do bloat. Great information!
