Patience is always key!!
We are back to the old days without TikTok!
However that's not going to stop me from posting my journey with each and every horse.
Today was a big success in so many ways. Today the BLM mustang Oban trotted for the first time under saddle. I only asked for a few strides just to let him feel everything. I'm absolutely over the moon proud of him. That wasn't the only milestone for this big boy this was his first ride in the snow.
Most cowboys would have already round penned him into the ground until he gave up. I have waited for him to understand the task that is given to him and the power to choose if he wanted to work with me. Today I decided that we were going to take it up a notch and he accepted. I am so grateful that he had no explosions or attitude with this new step towards greatness.

This was the first time she's ever been rode in the snow. I think she absolutely enjoyed spending time with me and making me feel like a princess flying on a magical unicorn!

Scooter has become one of my favorites to ride! I still can't believe the horse he has become. It feels like yesterday his mother was rescued from slaughter pregnant with all this goodness inside. I'm so grateful our paths have crossed and I have the pleasure to work with you.

june Bug traveled many states for her very first dressage lesson. This gypsy never seems to disappoint no matter the task. June Bug excelled in her lesson working on some second level dressage. I learned just as much as she did maybe even so much more. I can't wait to show what I have gained this weekend. I'm also so excited to teach all of my students some new lateral flexion and bending techniques.

Daisy Moo is doing so well with her healthy bull calf! Thurston's first time out in the sunshine! It was a mission to get them to the front yard but we were successful. Don't you worry we were able to get them back in before the nasty weather rolled in.

June Bugs has been learning some fancy moves. Turning The Reserve cCass Champion 2024 Western pleasure horse into a all-rounder. June Bugs is looking good as a dressage mount. I absolutely love how willing this gypsy is to learn.
Oban is officially under saddle! It has taken a while to gain his trust. I'm so happy that my patients have paid off. Look how relaxed this once extremely defensive anxious Mustang has become. Notice I don't have his head in a headlock nor am I worried about my safety. I am so happy we are at this moment. Now it's time to repeat and build on a foundation of movement.

Oban is now slowly starting to except weight! I'm not going to rush the process especially because of how defensive he can get. I want Oban to feel safe and confident when I swing my leg over but until then we will take baby steps.

He is going to be the coolest when he's finished! I have never met a mustang his size. Definitely one I would keep.
