Hi all!

I hope you enjoyed the holiday season, and may the new year bring peace and good health!

Travel season is soon to be here(yay!!) and my calendar is beginning to fill in for dog sits…. here’s a reminder to get your requests in sooner, than later😊

August - I will be on a 3 week road trip beginning August 1st.

*I only board one dog at a time and I do require they be crate trained*

These dates are for dog sitting at my home. Please keep in mind I only take in one dog at a time, or 2 small dogs from the same family.

I also offer drop-in visits while you’re away! Up to 3 visits/day(some humans prefer their dogs to remain in the home setting) to feed/walk/play with your puppers or puddums.

I’m now offering Positive Reinforcement Clicker Dog Training!

$50/session (typically 1 hr, with initial assessment lasting approx 1 1/2 hrs) — we work together on behaviors such as greeting and leash/mat/crate training.

I’m also working with clients on more challenging behaviors such as mild reactivity, and excessive barking. If a challenging behavior shows up that’s out of my scope of practice, I will refer you to another reputable PR trainer who specializes in that behavior who practices in the Cleveland area.

My credentials are as follows: completion of Positive Reinforcement Dog Training Fundamentals/Karen Pryor Academy(June 2021) Completion of Dr Susan Freidman’s “Behavior Works”nine week intensive program on animal behavior analysis (March 2022) and current student of Karen Pryor Academy Professional Animal Trainer Program (50% of program is completed).

Dog Training!

Hey all! Wanted to let you know in case you/someone you know may be interested…

I’ve completed 3/4 of the Karen Pryor foundations dog training course, and am finishing up requirements for the professional dog training program to begin mid-September. The dog training is performed with a clicker, and is the positive reinforcement method. I’ve worked with 3 dogs consistently, and have experienced wonderful results!

I’m looking to broaden my base and gain more experience through visiting humans/dog’s homes 1 day/week to teach this training method. We’ll meet for approximately 1 hour, I’ll teach the lessons, and we’ll meet again the following week (bi-weekly?) after you’ve had time to practice — and we’ll advance from there. I’ve experienced much success with many behaviors in dogs through these gentle, mental stimulating, and FUN lessons — including loose leash walking, crate training and self control. My experience is the dogs, as well as the humans, truly love it!

As a current student, my rate is $20/session ($30 if you’re outside of Lake County due to travel time). In addition, the supplies required for training are a minimal investment — you would need to purchase a clicker, treat bag, plenty of soft, pea-sized training treats, and a mat to train on. It’s also a good idea to have stuffed Kongs, marrow bones, chicken feet, etc as an end of session “treat” reward. If your dog isn’t so much food driven -a tug toy, ball, or other plaything will do.

Positive reinforcement dog training is a wonderful way to grow your relationship with your dog while engaging their minds and reaping the benefits of a happy, well-trained dog! I hope to work with you, and your puppers, soon!!

Pet Sitting fee update:

Hello! I’ve had a few questions, and some confusion, with regards to fees - I’m providing clarification with the intention for all to be on the same page.

My fees are as follows:
Dog sitting in my home is $40/day. Please note: this is not per/24 hr period. (Ex: If a dog is dropped off at my home on Wednesday at 5pm, the charge for Wednesday alone is $40)

*Care for dogs is very important to me, so if a sliding scale is needed please feel free to discuss this with me.

If I’m at work or on a drop-in on check-in/out day for your dog, we can make arrangements ahead of time for you to drop them off. You will simply let yourself in with a key I’ve placed outside, and guide your lovie to the crate— get them settled with familiar things you’ve brought from home, turn music on, etc. Conversely- pick up, if I’m not home, will be handled in a similar fashion.

I feel my fees are very fair. I’ve done quite a bit of research and talked with local dog care providers to come up with the charges. Your lovies are in a safe home with one-on-one care. They get at least 4 walks/day in a lovely, very dog-friendly neighborhood. I also have a lot of experience with dogs having fostered 16 since last March, as well as raising 2 from pups myself — in addition, I am currently enrolled in a very reputable clicker dog training program.

If you have an upcoming reservation with me to dog sit and my fees are not what you are comfortable with, we can discuss that reservation and make adjustments. Please note, however, that any dog sit reservations beyond that will be at the $40/day rate as described above.

Baker(formerly Bakers Man, my 2nd foster) is returning for a stay with me this wknd! I’m a lucky girl and a complete dog dork at this point😝

I’m trying to get Sugar Bear (my most recent foster) back to give him a break from the shelter …. but I’ve been busy pet sitting here…. It’s a good “problem” to have😊

Planning to bring Sugs back Monday for a week foster assignment before I bring in another puppers…soooo…. suffice to say, my pet sitting is picking up!!

If you’re thinking of boarding your lovie at my home, please reach out with plenty of notice. And also please note: I only board puppers that are crate trained. They also need to be ok with other peeps because I run an Airbnb out of my home.

Hi, my name is Kathleen! I’m a caring and loving support for your pet loved one. I have raised 2 dogs from puppies, and provided loving homes for 5 cats of varying ages. I am currently involved with a foster organization, and just completed an assignment of a neglected/malnourished pregnant mom who delivered 7 puppies on my living room floor! I found wonderful homes for mom and her entire litter, and all are doing well. My recent experience with fostering has guided me to want to get involved with the care of pets and has been encouraged by a growing population of support on social media, where my fosters have been featured regularly.
I’m looking forward to caring for your pet companion, as my favorite part of being with dogs is walking them in parks and neighborhoods and spending alone time while providing them special attention through petting, play and treat rewards – and learning about the needs/preferences of your feline, as their attention is not as easily acquired!
