How Gladdy’s Goodies Became a Thing!
In 2015 Gladdy got into an unopened bag of Lay’s Potato Chips when we were out shopping. The grease and fat in the bag sent her into a severe attack where she vomited, had runny p**p, shaking and not eating. The vet diagnosed her with acute pancreatitis. The treatment was pain medication and removing water and food for 24 hours and slowly introducing it back. Once she started to eat we had to find low fat treats with low additives and chemicals. The problem was it was almost impossible since the fat and crude fat on treats was so high!
She was pretty much under control with her pancreatitis till 2018. In February she begged for treats and I had run out of the ones that were safe for her, so I gave her a stick looking treat. She begged for another so I gave her one. Those treats sent her spiraling into another attack and it almost killed her.
The treats were 8% fat and 16% crude fat. Two sticks doubled those numbers. Then I also saw ethylene glycol as one of the main ingredients, that is better known as anti-freeze.
Realizing that we can’t trust treats and seeing the horrible stories coming from China manufactured treats and recalls where people at these factories were lacing treats with horrible things that instantly kill dogs we decided to make our own treats.
