Ok guys we need to talk about scammers! I don't usually make these sorts of posts but it is getting out of control and I feel the best thing I can do is make a post to help my followers and friends educate and protect themselves.

Puppy scammers are a HUGE issue right now. In the last few weeks I have unfortunately talked to several different ones and the worst part is how good they are. They have great legitimate pictures and profiles and posts from people claiming they purchased puppies from them. It is really scary because if you do not know to ask the right questions it would be so easy to fall victim to them.

Here is my advice and what helps me w**d out who are legitimate breeders and who are not.

Ask Questions! Question everything and do not ask yes or no type of questions or feed them answers because they will just guess at what you're hoping for and respond with that. A legitimate breeder will have no problem answering questions or giving in-depth answers.

Be knowledgeable about the breed, do your research and know the lingo. Everything they are posting from the photos all the way to their response to typical questions is likely stolen from legitimate breeders which means it may look and sound really good.

ASK to see proof of ownership of the dogs.
Ask to speak to them on the phone.
Ask to see their website, AKC profile, Good Dog profile... what ever they have. Scammers will not have these.
Research their social media profiles and see how long have they been posting and how long have been posting about the specific breed of dogs you are looking at.
Ask for references. vet references, past buyers, Good Dog buyer reviews google reviews heck even references from others in the industry.
Ask breed-related questions. example What color are the parents? If they say gray instead of blue merle... major red flag.
Ask what health testing has been done AND make sure to ask to see copies of the results before moving forward.
And do not under any circumstances give them your info or payment until all of your questions have been asked and answered to your complete satisfaction
