As many of you know, we recently lost our kennel matriarch Nina (AKA Xena) 2 years after our patriarch Dante passed.

We decided to immortalize them by getting tattoos of their paw prints and wanted to share how we got their prints.

All you need is iodine spray from the drug store and a piece of paper. Spray the dog's paw and press it down onto the paper. Let it dry for 15 minutes and you're done.

The impression will be a dark reddish / brown color.

We used Photoshop to turn them into black & white by adjusting contrast, saving the photo, and adjusting the contrast again until the black was perfectly clear.

There are loads of kits out there to take paw prints, and most are single use. There aren't "do overs". With this method you can try multiple presses until you get the "perfect" print and once it is scanned, you can save it as a jpeg on multiple media to ensure it never gets lost... all for a few pennies.

Our beautiful matriarch Nina von Striano passed over the rainbow bridge today at 13 1/2 years old.

She had an amazing life, lived with two of her daughters and 2 of her granddaughters and got all the love, ear rubs, heinie scratches and top shelf treats 🥰

She is now resting next to Dante von Folkvangr - her mate and the sire of her pups

For our family who have her pups - give them an extra big hug from us. Hold them tight - time passes far too fast.

As many of you are aware, a serious respiratory illness has been infecting dogs throughout the country.

Up until now, veterinarians have not had much luck in identifying or treating it. This week, veterinarians used a heavy duty antibiotic called chloramphenicol to treat a champion golden retriever…

Who quickly recovered.

Today is Nina’s 13th birthday!!!

She was born on 08/09/10

To celebrate we made her, her daughters, and her granddaughters pumpkin cinnamon pupcakes with peanut butter whipped cream icing.

The recipe is posted - these make awesome doggie treats - and the size can be scaled up or down depending on how big your dog is.

We doubled it 🤣
