Rescue is hard. Please be kind.
PAWS runs a TNR clinic. We have about two clinics a month. We spay/neuter 100+ cats a month. We pull 95% of our fosters from our clinics into our TNR to Foster program. We pull friendly adults, in addition to kittens. We do not leave moms and dads behind when we're able. We adopt almost 500 cats a year. We have long-term resident cats with medical or behavioral issues that we provide love and care. We maintain adoption centers inside PetSmart stores in Lebanon PetSmart, PetSmart Harrisburg - Lower Paxton and Mechanicsburg. We have foster homes opening their spare rooms and hearts to foster bottle babies, mama's & kittens, spicy kitties, adults, medical needs, geriatric and every cat in between. In addition, we hold constant Fundraisers to be able to keep all of this going.
We're a small all-volunteer rescue founded in 1979. We do the best we can.
What we need to say is we can't do it all and we can't please everyone. We're in this to make better lives for the cats in our community.
We partner with many organizations. We spread the love whenever we can.
This is only the start of the brutal time of year referred to as kitten season. We have a long road ahead.
Recently, we've encountered people making more and more demands on our services and on our already overwhelmed volunteers.
Please do not push negativity onto our shoulders.
Our TNR clinics are meant for TNR cats only. Ferals, outside cats, community cats and not owned cats. Every time someone "sneaks" an owned cat through any TNR clinic that means resources are taken away from homeless cats. Please understand our TNR clinics are by appointment only. It's wrong to show up with cats in traps and blame our volunteers for not allowing you to add the cats to our already overflowing surgery schedule. Our veterinarians are the best around but they have limits we need to respect. We already push them hard. We need to keep them happy.
We're really feeling the pressure and we're doing the best we can.
Please keep supporting all the local TNR groups.
Please keep supporting all the local TNR clinics.
Please keep supporting all the local Rescues.
Please keep supporting all veterinarians.
And please continue to do all you can to work together.
The cats need all of us.
Boy, that was a lot to say. Swooh, glad we got that out.
Now go hug a kitty and spread the love. 💗
