💕 WE'RE HIRING A PART TIME POSiTION 💕

Looking to emBARK on the adventure of a life-time in animal welfare?

Well, we are hiring a part-time position of EVENT Planner and adoption counselor!

Hours would be:

Saturday - Adoption Event at various Portland Locations. Typically 10am-4pm
Sunday - Adoption Counselor & Animal Care. 10am-6pm
Monday & Tuesday: Animal Care 10am - 1pm

Our hopes for this position would be an individual able to help plan and run fundraisers, adoption events, and various other events through-out the year.

This position will also be expected to help out with animal care. Tasks will include litter scooping, medical care administration, adoption counseling & support.

Animal experience is required.

We do ask that applicants be willing to volunteer for 2 weeks to make sure this type of job is the right fit. This is HARD but rewarding work. We want to make sure this is a great fit for everyone!

Hey there, future family! 💕🥰🐶

I’m Marlee, a fabulous female pup who spent way too much time chained to a tree. But don’t worry—I'm ready to trade in my shackles for snuggles!

I may have been a “tree-hugger” in my past life, but now I’m all about the couch-hugging, snack-stealing, and adventure-seeking! I’m looking for a home where I can unleash my inner goofball and let my personality shine.

I’m a pro at zoomies, and my tail has been known to wag with the speed of a thousand fans at a doggy race. I love belly rubs, long walks (no more chains, please!), and playing fetch (though I might prefer to fetch *you* a snack instead).

I do have to say I am a little socially awkward and would do best with a doggie bestie who can put up with my quirks.🤪

I will say that anything small and furry is just so tempting to chase! So please no kitties or small pets in the home, I’m not sure I could contain myself!

I’m currently in weekly training with my new besties at Empowered Canine Solutions to help me learn new life skills! Life in the real world, really is different then life on a chain!

I’m ready to bring joy and laughter to your life—just promise me that I won’t be left chained to the tree in the backyard anymore. I’m ready to be the center of attention and the best sidekick you could ever ask for. Let’s make some pawsitive memories together!

💚GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT💚

August 7th, 2024

ARK Pet Rescue is pleased to announce it has been awarded $2,500 through AgWest Farm Credit’s Rural Community Grant program to be used towards our move to our new location!

ARK Pet Rescue is a 501c3 Non-profit in Newberg, Oregon that focuses on saving at-risk animals in their community and beyond.

The funds granted to ARK will impact the local community by allowing them to continue their lifesaving care to homeless animals.

“We are so beyond grateful to have an amazing company like AgWest partner with us to improve the lives of at-risk animals. A lot of the animals we take in, come from rural areas, and this grant will go so far in securing the rescue for many years to come.” E.D Daria Veenstra

AgWest’s Rural Community Grants provide funds to non-profit organizations for projects that improve rural communities within Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

This includes efforts such as building or improving facilities; purchasing necessary equipment to facilitate a local program; and funding capital improvements which enhance a community’s infrastructure, viability and prosperity.

💕Foster’s Found💕

We have 6 one week old orphaned kittens that need a foster home. They have been started on a bottle and are doing so well.

Mama was apart of a big trap/spay/relocate adventure & we didn’t realize she had babies till she was already relocated. Nor do we know who mama is.

These little ones are doing well, and ready for a foster home.

BOTTLE FEEDING is required.

All supplies will be provided.

We really try to keep our content family friendly, but unfortunately this is all we have on sweet Marley right now, and we feel it’s important to share her story.

Everyone meet Marley. She is coming to us tomorrow from California. When I saw her video I cried. A chain deeply embedded into her neck, showed the life she had lived so far.

Confinded to life on a chain for so long, it became a part of her.

She was found running down a road with the chain dragging behind her. I can only imagine how painful every lurch of the chain was as it caught on the ground. I like to think someone cut her free, and she ran. Never looking back.

Marley is coming to ARK tomorrow to begin her rehab, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally.

We NEED a foster for Marley. Someone who lives close to Newberg and is okay taking her to vet appointments and training classes 1x a week.

We know this is a HUGE ask, but Marley needs a miracle!

Our friends at Noah’s Haven could really use some help getting some new crates! They are a fantastic rescue doing great work. Let’s show some love!

We have given away nearly all of our used 36” crates and all but 1 of our 42” crates to adopting families over the last few months.

We are in need of NEW 36” metal crates x3 and 42” crates x2.

The reason we are asking for new ones is because we have had to scrap a lot of our used ones due to bent walls, broken doors and cracked kennel trays.

Majority of our rescue pups sleep in these crates through the night so we need them to be safe and secure.

🚨URGENT🚨

Remember that post we had about the feral colony left behind after their caretaker passed away. Well we got notified that the cats are getting FIXED TODAY!

This is a huge WIN for this group of beautiful kitties.

But now we need YOU to step in and help.

What they need!

We need BARN HOMES for 20 cats TODAY. I know this is a huge ask but we really need to get these kitties into a new place where they will be safe and warm before winter comes.

Kitties will be ready for their new homes around 5:00 tonight. Please message us if you can take 2 or more cats!

🐈‍⬛ ABOUT BARN CATS 🐈‍⬛

Barn home should have a place/crate to keep the kitties for 30 days to teach them this is their new home. They should not be immediately released in their new home as they will be lost, scared, and confused. If you can confine them to a barn that’s great!

After 30 days kitties will usually stick around if continued to be provided with food and water.

Please HELP these babies!

The amazing BAKED IN SHERWOOD donated 72 cookies for us to sell to raise money for the cats in our shelter! These Cookies are gorgeous sugar cookies!

💕📅MARK YOUR CALENDARS📅💕

August is a BIG month for ARK as it will officially be our last month in the space we are in. This is a bittersweet moment, but one we knew was coming for a long time.

We are continuing to ask for prayers that the new space as we work through obtaining permits and starting renovations. We are fully trusting the Lord in this process as terrifying as it is. But as we have said before, even if it doesn’t work out the way we hope, He is still GOOD!

Some dates to lookout for:
- August 10th: Dog Adoption Event at Petsmart in Tanasbourne. Exact Address TBD.

- August 17th: Moving Sale. We are having a “garage” sale of multiple furniture items, pet supplies, clothes, baby items, to raise money for the rescue and our move. If you have any good condition items you would like to donate to the rescue to sell you can drop them off anytime during our open hours.

- August 24th: Farwell PAWTY! Saying goodbye to the old space and celebrating the thousands of animals that have had second chances there. It will be a fun night to reflect, celebrate, shed some tears, and PAWTY. There will be a small ticket fee to help raise money for the rescue:)

- Soft/Grand Opening of new space is TBD. We are hoping for End of August, but most likely looking at sometime in September.

💕Puppies Found a Foster Home💕

Sweet puppies desperately need a foster! They arrive tomorrow morning and need to go into a foster home to keep them safe!

Fosters can take one puppy or all three!

All the puppies are girls! Ages are unknown. Will be treated for fleas, dewormed and have received first vaccines.

Due to us in the transition to a new building Fosters are now expected to keep puppies till their forever homes are found. We will post all puppies to our website and Petfinder and will be having multiple adoption events across the Portland metro area that are optional for fosters to go to, to find our puppies homes!

Such an exciting week here at ARK Pet Rescue! This week we got the keys to the new home for ARK and became an official Pet Smart Charity! Soon cats from ARK will be ALL OVER the PNW partnering with various Pet Smart locations! Woot woot!

More details to come about our future home but we KNOW you guys are going to love it 🥹

URGENT!

UPDATE: we are on our way to get the incubator! The seller is letting us make payments on it to help save this baby. Please please donate if you can! This incubator will save so many lives in the future!

We hope everyone is having a great start to the 4th of July! We unfortunately are having quite the stressful morning! One of our fosters gave birth to an extremely premature puppy and unfortunately the care he needs exceeded the capacity of his foster mama.

He’s back at the rescue but we NEED an incubator to increase his chances of survival.

We found one on Facebook Marketplace that we can get TODAY! But we need to raise the $1,200 to purchase.

Keeping this little guys body temperature stable is going to be crucial at saving his life.
