Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those that died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. To me- this includes the four-legged as well as the two-legged soldiers.

Did you know? that the military working dogs are given ranks - usually one higher than their handler. Often the dogs are given the opportunity to retire once they reach a certain age or for medical reasons.

The Air Force makes “baseball” cards for the dogs and even the falcons.

Warco is one that never got to retire. He sadly passed (2010) due to cancer. He went from the biggest grouch to letting me play pine cone fetch with him even after all the clinic visits and testing.
