Professor needs your support! He enjoys the company of calm dogs, is learning how to play with toys and is enjoying being an inside dog with all the food and treats. He is still in need of a long term foster/ adopter. He is with a temporary foster in Richmond, a person involved in his Richmond rescue who graciously opened their home while awaiting his Va Beach based rescue group to secure him a home. PROFESSOR in need of a long term foster/ adopter! He's doing great in his temporary/ short term foster home, exploring more and more every day and being very brave. He's in need of a long term foster/ adopter who can continue giving him some tlc and learning how to dog. He had minimal human contact in his previous life and is a survivor-running on the streets of Richmond, VA for 9 months before being caught. He's enjoying the indoor life now and looking for that special person to help him learn, grow and enjoy the comforts of being a house dog! Professor is from a rescue group out of Va Beach - Second Chance Habitat- and was being fostered in the RVA area when he went missing last June. He is currently in a short term foster home decompressing from his life on the run. He will need a long term foster or adoption home with someone with experience of scared, feral type dogs. PROFESSOR IS SAFE!! We're thrilled to announce Professor was safely captured overnight after 9 months (268 days) on the run in the Richmond, VA area. It was a huge team effort by a group of dedicated volunteers to safely get this street smart and trap savvy dog off the streets!

Fans of Professor- We are still very active in recording Professor's movements and the plans to trap him. We had to make some changes to the trap set up and now we're making steady progress to his liking. Slow and steady. Check out these cute videos of him in comments. Happy New Year! An update on Professor- dedicated volunteers are still working daily to bring Professor to safety. We are getting nightly photos and videos of him as he passes along his route doing his nightly routine and Yes, we're actively trying to trap him. He's street smart and trap savvy - using survival skills to manage on his own since running off from a foster home in June 2020. Those survival skills come in handy for him but makes it more challenging for the hoomans trying to bring him to safety as he's scared of people, cars and anything that moves AND anything new! We're using all the great foods imaginable and working with the pros. Keep sending your best wishes to get Professor safely off the streets and feel free to contact any and all animal communicators you can! Alright- 3rd night is the charm hopefully!

We've definitely spotted Professor in the Northside of RIchmond VA! He still has on his red collar and still has no tail! A few dedicated volunteers laid out food the last two evenings and set up trail cameras... and we're excited to share Professor found them and had a good meal. Now we just need volunteers to continue quietly refilling the water and food bowls to keep him in the area. Thanks to everyone who has been keeping their eyes out for him. Continue calling/messaging in any sightings.

RICHMOND, VA NORTHSIDE area..
Professor is still on the run! We have some possible sightings over the last couple weeks of a similar looking dog and a reliable sighting very recently. Keep a lookout and let us know of any new spotting of a black/tan dog. Red collar. No tail, especially in the Northside area. Please call or text with any information. Professor is street smart, avoids people and will likely need to be trapped.

Professor is still missing. We haven't had any sightings in over a month. We know he's out there but just don't know where he's moved on to. He's microchipped, has a red martingale collar with contact info of his foster home. He may or may not have a red harness on. Last sighting on video that matched his description showed no harness. Please let us know of any reports of sightings of similar looking dogs

No recent sightings of Professor. Keep a lookout when the rain lets up as he may be on the move. Previous sightings Northside and East Highland Park so may be travelling that corridor.

PROFESSOR dog is still on the run! Possibly WITHOUT the RED harness. We had a recent late night neighbor video of Professor in the Northside/Rosedale areas (after the East Highland Park Ring video). This time He did NOT have the red harness on, but pretty certain it was him as there were all of the other distinguishing features. DO NOT CHASE! Please continue keeping a lookout and notify us of any sightings!

Ring Video of Professor! Received word today he was spotted on Ring video early Thursday morning 8/6 in the area of Laburnam/ Mechanicsville. He is branching out and circling back at times. ( He was spotted 8/4 near Laburnam/Fauquier in Northside/ Bellevue) Please keep on the lookout for any postings or sightings of a black dog with Red Harness.

He's back!! Professor has been seen this morning after the storm around Nottoway and Moss Side in/around the Bellevue area.

Professor is still missing. No reported sightings since ~July 20/21 in the Richmond , VA Northside (Rosedale, Sherwood Park) areas. Please help keep a lookout for any dog listed as black/ brown wearing RED HARNESS and let us know of any sightings. He could be anywhere. His foster home was in the West End Henrico areas so he's already covered a lot of distance.
His sightings in Northside within the last 2 weeks in July generally had him "running fast" early am. He's also been know to hide in quiet wooded areas near train tracks. He will not come to people and will need to be trapped.

Our cat friend visited one of the feed stations last night, but not Professor. Unfortunately for the cat, we'll be relocating it! Hello Friends of Professor! There's a few dedicated volunteers who've been amazing at printing out and posting flyers the past few days. Be on the lookout for them with info to call- or message this page.

What we're looking for your help with now is calling in sightings of him. We are mapping out these sightings so we can establish his travel patterns. Just call/message with date/time and location. Don't chase him or yell out, as we want him to feel safe and stay in the area. Thank you all!!!! It's going to take a village.
