Tips from the spay/neuter trenches:
Hunting for that hidden testicle in a well-fed kitty? Nothing easily or convincingly palpable? Sometimes it's much faster and less traumatic to enter the abdomen, carefully hook the cord with the spay (snook) hook, trace the cord, and if the testicle doesn't come say hi 👋 and the cord dives caudally, then pull gently on the spermatic cord from within the abdomen and watch what tissue moves. Then carefully dissect til ya find the exact structure you seek. Repeat as needed to stay on track. And remember...when they are a unilateral crypt, remove the descended testicle last. 👍
(This is a teaching video so more tissue handling than what I'd do generally. But multimodal analgesia for the win.)
Made it in time for a quick trip around the Exhibit Hall! Looking forward to the conference this week👍 #neworleans #AnimalCareExpo
Pre-visit preventives made IVC placement in this kitty so much less stressful for all involved. (Mobile home visit)
High value treats are paramount to many low stress vet appointments. (mobile vet visit). Works with many dogs too 👍
Last week I traveled to TX to provide hands-on training for a HQHVSN CE program. From surgery to anesthesia to ER training, we covered a lot of ground during the clinic week and helped many shelter animals in the process. These two cuties - recovering from their surgeries - were some of the many furry kiddos who received spay/neuter care during the training clinic. #vetmed #continuingeducation #teach #mentorship #HQHVSN
