Life in the Fast Bane - Adopted Hi, I’m Bane! I’m a 1 1/2 yr old male bull terrier who was surrendered to Blue Ridge Bull Terrier Rescue in June of 2022.

Blue Ridge rescues and re-homes bull terriers along the east coast, except Florida and some of the eastern portion of the US.

Bane is now Ghost. This his best friend Tony.

Well it's been a long time since anything has been posted about Bane. My name is now ghost Frank. He was given this name by my four-year-old toddler twins in honor of my previous Bull Terrier Frankie. Needless to say ghost has warmed his way into the pack's heart as well as our own. Pretty sure hes overcome his issue with small dogs. Tony is his best friend.

Bane spent the first several months of his life with the same family. There wasn’t a question if he was loved in that home as his human mom clearly cared for him and about him enough to try to save him by giving him up. Issues had arisen in the home where the woman had to get a protective order and move quickly out of the home for her own safety. Bane was signed over to rescue and quickly moved out of the area as there was concern that the other adult in that home might try to sell him to some random person just to get money. He went to foster for a short time so that we could make sure all the information we were told about him was accurate. Sure enough, it was. Bane is a very loving, dog friendly boy who just wants to play and be loved. Once we posted that we were looking for a furever home for Bane, a gentleman named Timothy reached out. He had recently lost his bull terrier Frank and was struggling with his loss. It turns out that Timothy and his wife Rebecca live on a 28 acre farm with a huge fenced in area for dogs to play. They are highly involved in rescue and have been for decades at varying degrees. Their love for all animals is very evident when talking with them. Yesterday, Bane met his foster-to adopt dad Tim and headed home to the farm to meet his new family. He will be able to burn off lots of his young energy while playing with his new four legged and two legged siblings. We could not have dreamed of a more appropriate and perfect home and family for Bane.

Special thanks to Kathy Riley for initially taking charge of the situation, getting Bane into boarding until we could come up with a plan and covering the costs of that and his initial vetting and Eva Van Stratum for fostering Bane and driving him part way to meet his new dad.

Bane is doing much better at walks when using a harness lead. Morning stroll today before the temps got too warm.

Bane, in one of his rare moments of not bouncing around like the 16 month old terrier that he is.

Bane got the rest of his shots today and a clean bill of health at the vet. 50.8 pounds. He loves everyone. Chilling out this evening with the resident gal on her picnic table, tail wagging away.

Mr B says that his foster mom needs to take more pictures in the morning. He's getting the rest of his vet work done tomorrow by a vet who gives rescue discounts & LOVES bull terriers.

Mr B continues to be his youthful 16 month old self. His foster mom forgot to take pictures this weekend. No fear of fireworks, nor thunder. Loves PB Kongs. Good on leash after the first 5 minutes of pulling too hard. Still completely housebroken & sleeps soundly in his crate (and out of trouble) all night.

Mr B says chewing crate bedding is SO last week. And that his foster mom doesn't take enough pics of him in the fenced yard. Nor mention how completely housebroken he is. Sit by the back door and talk 'Arr-Arr' when he needs to go out.

Mr B (as in bouncy 16 month old) finally settled down for a bit. Tethered to my desk chair while I work.

LB (nickname since his foster mom doesn't love the name Bane, short for Lovely Bane, Little Bob, whatever) reminded his foster mom that she hadn't posted in a bit. Easy guy, completely house trained, crates quietly (picture where he says "Help I'm a trapped with a soup bone"). If his worst sin is that he bounces around the resident dogs saying "PLEASE play with me", well that's not too bad.

Bane (know here as LB because that's what his foster mom calls all the easy fosters) continues to do well. Non-food aggressive, totally playful, loves fetch indoors with soft toys. Reportedly he'd eat his crate bedding but his foster folks were away for 4 hours today and, given a soup bone, he was just passed out when they returned. Completely housebroken, crating quietly, Mr B's main thing is that he loves to invite dogs to play. The resident sight hounds are cautious about his size (short but sturdy) but should be playing chase with him in a few days.

Bane impressed his foster mom by sleeping quietly in his crate on his first night. He's glad to have space to run around & a new friend to do it. Baby pool doesn't have enough water to drop & flop but nice to wade into for a drink.

Bane got to go to the barn tonight, thought the horses were extra big dogs that needed barking at. Back in the crate while mom did barn chores. He's testing out a bigger crate tonight. If he doesn't eat the bedding, he gets more freedom. Practically begging to go outside with the resident hounds but best to let them accept him first. Already starting to play with stuffed animals. Drops them for throwing. Good boy.

On Saturday evening we received a message about a bull terrier named Bane. The woman who had contacted us about the situation, Kathy Riley, has previously helped Blue Ridge and kindly took it upon herself to get Bane into boarding early Sunday morning before we had a chance to speak. Once we connected on Sunday with Kathy, we learned that Bane needed a new home very quickly. It turns out that Bane’s mom has had to deal with a lot of serious personal things lately and needed to move out of her home immediately for her own safety. There was concern that Bane would also possibly be sold by someone else for money for some illegal things. It is a very sad situation for Bane’s former mom as it is clear that he was very loved by her. We went to work looking for a foster home for Bane so that we could learn more about him. Eva Van Stratum offered to foster Bane so we could get him out of boarding quickly and start to see how he is in a home setting. Today Bane took the first steps towards his new life when he was transported to Eva’s house. Once we have a better idea about him and his personality, we will start looking for a home for him. For now, he will settle in at Eva’s and be in a calm, safe environment. As evidenced by the photo below (taken shortly after arriving at Eva’s), he will also be working on learning some things, like not jumping up when meeting someone new!

Special thanks to Kathy for taking the lead when she learned of the situation from a local rescue, for making sure Bane was safe, for covering the costs of his boarding and vaccinations and driving the first half of Bane’s transport, Linda Lightner, mom to Blue Ridge alumnus Stella-brate - Adopted, for driving the second half and having enormous patience after getting stuck in multiple horrible pockets of traffic and having her transport leg turn into several additional hours of driving and Eva for opening her home again for another bully who needs a good foster mom.
