Mandie here— Buddy has an important update! 💚🦎

First things first: she’s getting her wormies, and we are absolutely thrilled about it! There is nothing quite like watching a bearded dragon enthusiastically chase down a tasty snack, and Buddy has been making sure not a single worm escapes her notice. 🪱✨

For those who have been following her journey, Buddy is currently being monitored due to her reproductive status. This sweet girl will be returning to our exotic veterinarian soon for a recheck to evaluate the status of her follicles and ensure everything is progressing the way it should.

Female bearded dragons can experience complications related to follicle development and egg production, which is why veterinary monitoring is so important. We want to make sure Buddy stays healthy, comfortable, and on the right track.

As a nonprofit reptile rescue, veterinary care is one of our largest expenses. If you’d like to help support Buddy’s upcoming appointment and the medical care of the other reptiles in our program, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.

Mandie here— Meet Dobby! Unlike many of our rescue reptiles, Dobby never had to wait long to find his forever home—he was an immediate foster fail! 😅💚

This sweet male bearded dragon quickly stole his foster family’s hearts with his gentle personality, adorable face, and exceptional pancake skills. Seriously, if there were an Olympic event for flattening out in the most ridiculous position possible, Dobby would be bringing home the gold. 🥞🦎

While Dobby was lucky enough to find his happily ever after, many of his friends at A Shedding Chance are still waiting for theirs. Some are undergoing medical treatment, some are recovering from neglect, and others are simply waiting for the right family to come along and give them the life they deserve.

Every veterinary exam, medication, diagnostic test, enclosure upgrade, and daily care expense is made possible by people who believe these animals matter.

Mandie here! 💅🐢 It takes a true baddie to rescue reptiles.

And by “baddie,” I don’t mean having the perfect outfit or taking cute selfies (although those are fun too). I mean being the kind of person who sees value in animals that the world often overlooks.

A reptile rescue baddie is willing to spend their Friday night giving medications, cleaning enclosures, monitoring p**p, scheduling vet appointments, researching husbandry, and celebrating the smallest victories—like a rescue finally eating on its own or finishing a shed without complications.

It’s understanding that a bearded dragon with medical needs, a leopard gecko with vitamin deficiencies, or a snake that nobody wants because it’s “just a normal” deserves love too.

It’s choosing compassion over convenience.

The reality is that reptiles are some of the most overlooked animals in rescue. They don’t bark. They don’t purr. They don’t get nearly the same level of public support that dogs and cats receive. Yet they still get sick. They still need surgeries. They still need diagnostics, medications, food, heating, UVB lighting, and veterinary care.

Every single reptile currently in our care relies on the generosity of people who believe they matter.
