GONE BUT FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

Euth command given for frightened pointer mix R***r!

Alternately kept in a pop up crate and a kennel, THESE ARE NOW HER FINAL MOMENTS. 💔 Pretty girl RUGER’S kind eyes jump at us from her photos. With her smiling, kind eyes, she doesn’t look like the freaked out pup that the ACC says she is. 😔. She walks beautifully on the leash, takes treats gently, she sits and gives paw when asked, she needs to lose a little weight. This girl is someone’s beloved pet. Why she ended up at the ACC, we won’t know. She is tense and fearful at the ACC, and being crated for many hours in a day does not help.

R***r is about 4 years old, as estimated by the ACC, she actually did good during her intake med exam, she was loose bodied, was easily muzzled but became tense for exam. The ACC decided NOT TO ASSESS HER as they said she was displaying signs of stress, looking for exits. She has always been easy to leash, and easy to manage. One episode of her trying to escape just proves how stressed and awful these pups feel being incarcerated in a pound is.

Please help this girl find a safe haven. R***r, in spite of her fear, has shown what she truly is — a well mannered, obedient loyal dog, with beautiful leash manners, and knows commands. She deserves to be in a home. A pointer staffie mix is a great mix, both breeds known to be loyal and smart. R***r needs an experienced home with a patient person, someone who will give her time and space to process her situation on her own terms. Please get her seen, she needs our help !

SAFE WITH AMSTERDOG RESCUE

Euth command given for poor unwanted King.

2 year old guard dog, King, left outside to his own devices, living with the unbearable cold, the sweltering heat and the merciless downpours. King’s original owner, a relative of his owner, passed away, his owner had kindly taken him in. But what happened at his owner’s place, how long he was there, and now with a new baby, his life faces its end.

Whether he was a guard dog all of his young life, we don’t know. We don’t know if he had a better life before his original owner passed away. We only know that with the owner that dumped him, he lived outside and King knew instinctively, like most dogs do, that his job is to protect his people. That’s a job that King took with gusto, barking and growling at strangers that approach his owners and his home. This poor dog just dedicated his all, and one day they “packed up his things” and then dumped him at the pound. His owner surrender notes are so telling, it shows how much they didn’t care for this dog, he was a piece of equipment that fulfilled his purpose.

This is it for poor King. Many young puppies who did good with people and did even better with dogs, sometimes scared, sometimes playful and blissful, unaware of what’s to come, have been killed in the past weeks. What of this pup, who is so petrified at the pound, that he cannot get over his fear? We are sure that King would have braved any danger to protect his people and his home, this is what he lives for. But to be in a daunting place, with no familiar face or scent in sight, King has lost all hope. Please help this poor loyal pup, who is confused and lost without his family. Please help him find his miracle, get him seen so he may have some hope.

Sweet, gentle Morris has been given the euth command !

Found slumped by the roadside, emaciated, and multiple wounds all over his body, both round and lateral ones, this quiet pup the ACC named Morris, was a sight that hurt our hearts.

After 2 months at the ACC, Morris has filled out a bit, his bones no longer sticking out. His body and weight have bounced back, but his eyes remain sad and beseeching. We can’t blame him. After what he had gone through, we shudder at the thought of how much he had suffered, and why he was in that situation.

The ACC has treated him well, Morris has gained confidence and the ACC says he already has begun biting the leash 😔. Because Morris wanted so much to get to the leash, he accidentally nipped the handler. Whatever his aim was, it was not done on purpose or out of aggression as he was easily leashed and removed from the incident right after, remaining his usual self.

Now, the ACC wants him out, as they feel that perhaps Morris is already deteriorating due to kennel stress. They have a point, but to issue the euth command for this boy who have been through a lot, is just cruel. A little compassion and understanding would make the world a better place for these animals, but everyone seems to be thinking of their own plight.

Please help Morris have a chance at knowing what it is to live in a home, to have a human who loves him and will take care of him, to live a life where he has enough of what he needs, and not to want for more. Morris lived a life defined by cruelty, he needs to know that we humans are not all bad. Please help Morris!

UPDATE: Adopted!

Leona is a 2 year old cane corso/mastiff mix in our care at SJRAS. She was brought in as a stray and has been showing a lot of anxiety in her kennel. Outside of the kennel, Leona is sweet but still very nervous/unsure of her situation. Leona is a high priority to get out of a shelter setting and allow her to decompress as she's at risk to decline mentally/emotionally. We are hoping for a breed specific or experienced rescue placement for her. If you can help, please email [email protected]
