🐾 CAT ADOPTION EVENT AT SAX’S JOINT! 🐾

Sax’s Joint is proud to support Bitten By a Kitten Rescue this Saturday, September 6th from 10 AM – 2 PM, with a special cat adoption event in our back parking lot at 317 Petaluma Blvd S.

This amazing cat rescue has sadly been forced to shut down due to a landlord issue, and now they need urgent help finding homes for over 80 cats. 😿

We’ll have a group of adorable, adoptable cats on site — here are just 8 of the cuties you’ll get to meet on Saturday! Whether you’re coming in for breakfast, lunch, or just a quick visit, please stop by and say hi. 🐱💛

👉 Adoption fee: Just $50 per cat
✅ All cats are spayed/neutered & vaccinated
🏠 Every adoption helps save a life!

If you or someone you know is looking to add a furry friend to the family, this is the perfect opportunity.

Let’s help these sweet kitties find the loving homes they deserve! 💕🐾

Feeling like a stalker, I watched kittys wake from a nap and eat. This is their first taste of “real food” and they like it. Hoping to get them in that trap tomorrow or Monday all at once. Right after we get momma.

Operation “find the kittens” in full swing. After this momma brought a 3 week old baby to the base of Moylans brewpub a few days ago, we have been looking for any others. It’s possible only one survived, but we are making sure by trying to stalk her back to her den. Once we either find them or determine there are no others, we will trap and fix and rehome her.

I originally wrote this post in 2014. Seems like a good time for a feel-good story again… So often in our feral cat rescue (Marin Friends of Ferals) it feels like we’re barely making a dent i…

Feral cats are often misunderstood, but not with Chris and her husband. They seem to be cat magnets when seemingly feral cats show up at their doorstep and before long are members of their family. Just goes to show what a little love and attention can do to transform a cat from feral into a loving house cat. Here's what Chris recently wrote us during a difficult period in her life...

I don’t know what I would do without my Marin Friends of Ferals kitties. I really don’t. They have provided me with infinite comfort during some very rough months. They give me joy every single day. They give me laughter. They make me stick to a routine that has kept me on emotionally solid footing. Some people think feral cats are a problem. No, honey—they’re the solution. Each cat that slinks into the bushes has its distinct personality and irreplaceable soul. People, wake up!

Cookie Dough and Linda Celeste Wild are too gentle to force themselves on anyone. I received a privilege when they chose to share their days with me. I gaze at them with pure love, forever.

Welcome back to San Quentin Saturday! Each Saturday, we share stories from our Pen Pals program at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, which matches specially-selected inmates who work in the center's firehouse with shelter dogs in need of a little extra TLC. ❤

Did you know that the Pen Pals program has a kitty from our Working Cats program here at Marin Humane? We love it when our programs collide! Our Working Cats program gives second chances to outdoor, under-socialized cats who aren’t able to be adopted as typical pets. These kitties often thrive as mousers and offer eco-friendly rodent control - which is exactly what The Warden is doing at San Quentin.

The Warden earned his name for obvious reasons: he's in charge! The Warden doesn't run from anything, be it a dog, a handler, a guard, or anything else. If you live at the firehouse and don't respect The Warden's boundaries, you just might end up with his signature on your hand in the form of a scratch. Luckily, everyone treats The Warden with the utmost respect and everyone lives in harmony - more or less!

Occasionally, The Warden will torment a new canine arrival by jumping over a handler's door and taunting the dog from atop a dresser. When a dog named Willow recently arrived, after some initial sizing-up, The Warden and Willow started to bond. Soon, The Warden and Willow would cuddle up at night and sleep in Willow's handler's bed! It was a tight squeeze but they made it work. The Warden and Willow would even play together in the play yard. It just goes to show, The Warden CAN be won over!

We'd like to say thank you to the inmates for supporting a more eco-friendly form of rodent control with The Warden! You can learn more about our Working Cats program, run in conjunction with our partners at Marin Friends of Ferals, here: https://marinhumane.org/adopt/working-cat-program/
