Avian bird flu is a very real risk for domestic and wild cats (dogs not at risk so far). Tragically, half of the exotic (wild) rescue cats at a WA sanctuary died within 24 hours.

Here is the latest case with instructions on how to contact the agency and prompt them to keep the public informed on guidelines.

But no explanations from regulatory authorities.

You may have seen this incredible rescue, but did you know that the rescue group sent: "...the family a surprise holiday gift: an owl tree-topper to remember their encounter forever, and to replace the star that collapsed under the weight of the beefy holiday visitor"?

A family at home in Arlington, Virginia, discovered that a barred owl had flown down the chimney and perched in their Christmas tree.

Foster cats Sadiya (black) and her mom Noctua (tortie) enjoy their first experience watching birds on a screen. Be sure to watch the hilarious ending!

They were curious about where the birds went when they flew off. Did the birds fly up to the ceiling? Did they hide behind the screen? Noctua even tests to see if the birds are real.

This mother/daughter duo is available for adoption from Red Rose Animal Rescue (link in comments).
