Hanging art and putting the finishing touches on the exam rooms for Veterinary Neurology and Imaging of the Chesapeake's new location in Hunt Valley. Dr. Jay McDonnell and his team are great and now they have a new state of the art space to take even better care of the pups and kitties that come see them. Have you been there yet?

🐶 Today is International Dog Day! 🐶

🇦🇶 Some of you may know that when I'm not taking photos of pets, I work as an Expedition Guide in Antarctica. But did you know that dogs were in Antarctica from 1899 to 1994? Dogs, specifically huskies, were used to pull sledges and were a valuable part of the exploration of the continent during the Heroic Age and later during the Scientific Age. Dogs were eventually banned in Antarctica as part of the Antarctic Treaty requiring all non-native species to be removed.

I've been offering Folio Boxes for almost a year now and they are 🔥🔥

These boxes hold 12 or 20 mounted or matted 8x10 prints and the window display can be rotated depending on what mood you are in that day. They boxes are made in Ireland and for the next month or so they are still at introductory prices.

Squarespace does not make it easy to build a site that works on phone, laptop, desktop, ipad without some serious tweaking. Come on…isn’t that a given with website software now? I literally just wanted to get a one page website up after losing my other one. I thought all was well until I checked it on the other devices.

This is going to be very hard when I do the rest of the website!!

Who has been over to Western Shore Veterinary Hospital yet? Comment below if you have.

Not only are they great vets, but my art is decorating the lobby, with the exam rooms to come next. Here are some photos of the finished products. In one, I'm standing with Hanna's proud mom 😀 . I just love Hanna's smile and we had so much fun at her photo session with the annual sailboat show as the background. Doesn't get any more Annapolis than that!

Only 81.1% have full conversations?? Shouldn't that be 100%??

Check out some of these fun facts and let me know in the comments where you fall. I definitely let my dogs lick my face, have full conversations and yes, my pup has been in the bathroom with me haha.

● 52.3% of dog owners surveyed said they let their dog lick their face.

● Dogs watch humans do their doody almost as much as humans watch them—one survey reported 70.6% of us have had our dog intrude on toilet time.

● Smaller dogs (62%) were much more likely to sleep in bed with their owners than bigger dogs (32%).

● Dog owners are more likely to have better cardiovascular health than non-dog owners.

● 20% of dog owners report introducing their dog to a stranger to help get the sparks flying.

● Researchers reported that early exposure to dogs (and cats) reduces the risk of ear infections, coughs and colds in babies by a whopping 30 percent!

● 81.1 % of dog owners report having "full conversations" with their dogs.

● Those who grew up with a dog in their first year of life were 13 percent less likely to develop asthma than those who did not have a dog.

The second Tuesday in June is Pet Memorial Day. Post a photo of the pets you have loved and lost and tell me something about them that still makes you smile.

Today, I’m missing:

❤️ Boulder who could catch a frisbee like a pro.

❤️ Mini who could go into the woods and find any missing toy

❤️ Sophie who had the best floppy ears and smile when she ran down the hall

❤️ Darbi who was a love bug and just the sweetest dog in the world

❤️ And Roxy who was only with us a year but loved to be carried around and sit in the sunshine.

MIDNIGHT UPDATE: Wowza! We have nearly 900 portraits ahead of us. And… that’s a wrap! We’ve hit our maximum number of entires this year. BARCS staff and volunteers appreciate your patience if you haven’t already gotten your portrait. We expect this may take us about 2-3 weeks to complete—especially given this weekend’s busy holiday. Thank you all for helping us raise $18,000 for our animals. ❤️

Back in Nov / Dec 2022, I posted about the process of creating epic wall art for a client. I just realized I forgot to post the final product on the wall, so here they are!

I love the frames that they chose - modern yet classic. These will go with any decor and never feel dated.

I think Hobey approves! And I love that he is sitting under his own portrait. Do you think he chose that chair on purpose??
