🦮 Slowing down meal time,
🐕🦺 Confidence building,
🐶 and so much more!
All these branches are providing great sniff spots on our walk!

Living life with a reactive dog can be difficult. You can often feel frustrated, hopeless and even embarrassed. Just know, your dog is just having BIG feelings which is leading to their behavior. Many methods of training a reactive dog focuses on changing the dog's behavior, and most of the time this does not work. Working with a reactive dog should instead focus on changing your dog's emotions through management and forming positive associations... change the BIG feelings and their behavior will change.
If you have a reactive dog, I can help!

I had a client tell me today, "Thank you for helping me get my dogs back!".
And this is why I do what I do! Athena and Georgia were best friends until the family moved to Omaha. The girls were getting into frequent scuffles and life in the home was difficult. During our first session, we made a few changes to their daily routine and management. Now these two are playing and cuddling, just like they used to!
Do you have a reactive dog? I can help!!
Remi can be reactive to dogs on walks. Here he is rolling around just feet from another dog. I'd say he is feeling pretty comfortable and relaxed! We slowly got closer with lots of praise and treats and he did amazing!!
This picture may not look like much but made me so happy when I walked up.
I am currently working with Remi, a dog that gets anxious with visitors and barks for sometime when people enter the home. We discussed placing a treat jar outside the home. When guests enter they toss treats to him. And treats are FREE, even if he is barking and he doesn't have to do anything for the treats. We simply want to make a positive association with people walking in the door. The clients followed through and reported that Remi will only bark a few times when people enter and warms up quicker than before. Win!
With the nicer weather, this has being coming up a lot when talking to dog guardians lately...
Sometimes I wake up at 3 am and think about your dog. There is no extra charge for this. You're welcome!
A dog that tries to dash through the door when you open it can be very scary and dangerous! Teaching a controlled response as people go towards the door is so important. Here is a video of Evie learning to wait at the stop of the stairs while her guardian goes to the door. After just one training session, she was able to stay in place as the door was opened. Evie's mom followed up a few days later and was excited to to share Evie was successful staying at the top of the stairs as a visitor entered the home. Way to go!!

Round of 👏 for Arlo and his guardians! He struggled with seeing dogs on walks, even if they were a distance away. During our session he was able to watch nearby dogs and still check in with his people and take treats!! This is great progress in just 2 weeks!

Meet Bane! His guardians reached out because he would become very anxious when it was time to go outside. He would bark and dash out the doors which could possibly end in injuries to him or his people. After one session we were able to reduce his anxiety going through doorways and he would even wait for a release cue before exiting!
Look at those TOOFERS! Yesterday I had a great session with Bella. We worked on standing back and watching dogs from a distance to help her overcome her reactivity. She did fantastic and her smile proves how happy she is with herself. A+ student right here!!

After a session of learning, Madi and Lykoln had a fun game of 'find it' with treats hidden in the leaf piles! Lykoln decided to boop the camera at the end. 🤣 I just had my second session with these two. Today we worked on their jumpy/mouthy behaviors in the home and a more reliable recall in the back yard. Find It and other Sniff games can be very benefical for your pup. Allowing a dog to sniff has been scientifically proven to lower their heartrate and releases feel-good dopamine, which helps to decrease stress and improve their overall mood!
Yesterday, I had a really fun session with Mia, a 12 week old Cavapoo pup. The guardian's goal is to have her ring a 🔔 to indicate when she needs to go outside. They sent me this video today. Amazing progress in just 24 hours!! Round of applause to them 👏
Teaching your dog to go to "place" is a great tool that can be used in so many different situations. It is a behavior that takes time and patience but will be worth it in the end. And training is a great way to tire out your pup!
GIVEAWAY WINNER! Congratulations Barb Kinard! Thank you to everyone who participated in the giveaway last weekend. I appreciate all the love and support!
Doc is a four year old Doberman that I have worked with quite a bit. He has sensitivity to having his feet touched and his nails trimmed. So, we taught him to file them himself!!

Let me see pics of your pups doing enrichment activities!! Do you work your dog's brain? Providing your dog with mental enrichment is just as important as physical exercise. It can also be just as tiring as a walk or a game of fetch. Too much physical exercise can create an adrenaline junkied super athlete! For my pups, I incorporate enrichment into meal time. There are so many great products out there, but also lots of DIY options. Just remember, not all enrichment includes food. Scent games, bubbles, and music are just a few examples of other forms of enrichment to help stimulate your dog's senses.
