Today I met Gizmo the 7 month old yorkie!

He has had a hard time with grooming so far in his life, so his parents gave our holistic salon a try. He did well until he reached his limit, and unfortunately cooperative care does not always mean magic. In respecting his limits, we chose to only do his bath, blow dry, and brush today.

We scheduled him for next week to focus on desensitizing him to touch on the feet and undercarriage. If we can do the nails that’s a plus, but our current goal is to have him feel safe in our hands.

Cooperative care can be a long process opposed to an instantly gratifying one. Instead of pushing him to the point of biting and fleeing, we chose to take his journey one step at a time. The reason we chose this approach is because he is still young and full of potential to learn and adapt- to force fear onto this pure little guy would be counterproductive for his progress.
