Good Morning All!

As a Service Announcement PLEASE take care of your furbabies during these days with high temperatures.

As we go into late July and into August, temperatures will be scorching HOT and we lose many of our Furry friends.

Caring for pets during the summer months of high temperatures is crucial to ensure their well-being. Here are some tips to help you keep your pets safe and comfortable during hot weather:

1. **Provide Ample Water:** Always make sure your pets have access to fresh, clean water at all times. Dehydration can occur rapidly in hot weather, so it's important to keep your pet well-hydrated.

2. **Shade and Shelter:** Ensure that your pets have access to shaded areas where they can escape the sun and cool down. If your pet is outdoors, make sure they have a shelter that provides shade and good ventilation.

3. **Avoid Hot Surfaces:** Hot pavement, sand, or asphalt can burn your pet's paws. Try to walk your pet in the early morning or late evening when surfaces are cooler, or stick to grassy areas.

4. **Never Leave Pets in a Parked Car:** Even with the windows cracked, the temperature inside a parked car can quickly reach dangerous levels. Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car, even for a short period.

5. **Limit Exercise:** Avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest parts of the day. Opt for early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are cooler.

6. **Grooming:** Regular grooming can help keep your pet cool during hot weather. Brushing your pet to remove excess fur and prevent matting can improve airflow to their skin.

7. **Cooling Techniques:** Provide your pet with ways to cool down, such as a cool towel to lie on, a shallow pool of water to splash in, or frozen treats to help lower their body temperature.

8. **Watch for Signs of Heat Stroke:** Be aware of the signs of heat stroke in pets, which can include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and vomiting. If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke, seek veterinary help immediately.

By following these tips, you can help ensure that your pets stay safe and comfortable during the summer months of high temperatures.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS.

Public Service Announcement!!!

Hummingbirds:

This hummingbird is unable to retract her tongue due to fungal spores that have germinated on her tongue or in her gullet caused by folks mixing honey or anything other than plain white sugar with water. She will die because she can no longer feed.

If you have feeders, PLEASE USE ONLY PLAIN WHITE SUGAR in your mixture of 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. No organic or raw or brown sugar, no powdered sugar, no honey, no artificial sugar. Use plain white sugar/water mixture which is most similar to actual flower nectar. And no toxic red color liquids!

Change the sugar water mixture every couple of days, especially during high temperatures, as it will start to ferment if it sits out for days on end.

If you can't or won't do this, please do not put out a feeder at all. (Photo credit: Frank Lingohr).

❤️🐾PUPPY OWNER PSA:🐾❤️

So so very important

When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.
When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.
But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.
You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.
Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

Before Venus & Serena Williams, there was Margaret and Matilda Peters. They were nicknamed “Pete” and “Repeat” for their doubles playing skills and last name. The Peters Sisters attended Tuskegee University in 1937.

While they were in college, segregation laws did not allow African Americans to compete against Whites, so the Peters sisters played in the American Tennis Association (ATA), which was created specifically to give African Americans a forum to play tennis competitively.

After graduating from Tuskegee University in 1942, they both continued to play tennis in the American Tennis Association. They won 14 Doubles Tennis titles between 1938 and 1953. Despite their great 6skill, the sisters were never allowed to compete against the great white Doubles Players of the time.

By the time the walls of segregation in tennis started falling, the Peters sisters were past their prime and were never able to compete in racially integrated matches. However, they gained fame as tennis stars. Margaret and Matilda Peters were inducted into the Tuskegee Hall of Fame in 1977.
Black women are legendary.

With no father, no college education, no training and very few role models, they handed this talented, young, dirt-poor 18-year-old $420,000 per year.

He married his high school sweetheart, was never arrested, never used drugs, and never humiliated his spouse with rumours of an affair.

He was never in the news with so much as a parking ticket. He is an excellent father to his children, constantly supporting them and making them dream big. He’s always involved in their activities too.

20 years later. Same dude. Same maturity. Same wife. Same family.
Reputation is intact. Now earning about $2 million per week. Still one of the greatest basketball players on the planet today.

Lebron has sent over 1000 children to college fully paid for.
Whether you’re a fan of LeBron James or not, you have to respect him for what he does on and off the court.

"By and large, it's more challenging to find historical stories about people of color who took the time and energy to advocate for animals, especially when they were fighting so hard for their own freedoms, such as with civil rights. But, every now and then we discover some new anecdote and we just have to share it with the world..." - Black History is for Animal Lovers, Animal Museum.
