Good Morning All!
As a Service Announcement PLEASE take care of your furbabies during these days with high temperatures.
As we go into late July and into August, temperatures will be scorching HOT and we lose many of our Furry friends.
Caring for pets during the summer months of high temperatures is crucial to ensure their well-being. Here are some tips to help you keep your pets safe and comfortable during hot weather:
1. **Provide Ample Water:** Always make sure your pets have access to fresh, clean water at all times. Dehydration can occur rapidly in hot weather, so it's important to keep your pet well-hydrated.
2. **Shade and Shelter:** Ensure that your pets have access to shaded areas where they can escape the sun and cool down. If your pet is outdoors, make sure they have a shelter that provides shade and good ventilation.
3. **Avoid Hot Surfaces:** Hot pavement, sand, or asphalt can burn your pet's paws. Try to walk your pet in the early morning or late evening when surfaces are cooler, or stick to grassy areas.
4. **Never Leave Pets in a Parked Car:** Even with the windows cracked, the temperature inside a parked car can quickly reach dangerous levels. Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car, even for a short period.
5. **Limit Exercise:** Avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest parts of the day. Opt for early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are cooler.
6. **Grooming:** Regular grooming can help keep your pet cool during hot weather. Brushing your pet to remove excess fur and prevent matting can improve airflow to their skin.
7. **Cooling Techniques:** Provide your pet with ways to cool down, such as a cool towel to lie on, a shallow pool of water to splash in, or frozen treats to help lower their body temperature.
8. **Watch for Signs of Heat Stroke:** Be aware of the signs of heat stroke in pets, which can include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and vomiting. If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke, seek veterinary help immediately.
By following these tips, you can help ensure that your pets stay safe and comfortable during the summer months of high temperatures.
