Pancake is pretty scared of all things outdoors, especially cars. Ensuring he is comfortable with each step of the “getting outside” process is crucial. Before this, we did a build up to walking to the foyer and slowly opening the door. This week shown we worked on getting him onto the porch. *spoiler alert* the last lesson I had with him he went down the stairs! It is so important that we make sure Pancake is making these choices on his own, no force, no surpressed emotions.

Trooper was not amused that after his first session I had him sit for a photo. Trooper is learning some basics with a strong focus on impulse control, this boy does not know how big he is!

This week was my last session with Archie! And while he got me some ice cream for the road, training him was the real treat😍 If you do not know along with private lessons and the hustle and bustle of my own business, I lead the behavior team for a large animal society in Charleston, South Carolina. I got to see Archie in my kennels in the shelter to working through some behavioral issues and thriving in a new home. It’s moments like this where I try to take a step back and just smile😁

Loose leash walking with my main man Hershey🍫

Did someone say positive associations with the muzzle?! Wayne did absolutely fantastic yesterday with being introduced to the muzzle. When conditioned appropriately the muzzle can be a fantastic tool to use for dogs displaying reactive/aggressive behaviors towards other dogs or humans. Wayne and his parents took a big step last night toward his success with appropriate greetings with people👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Working on some loose leash walking skills with Hershey. Hershey is a high energy, easily distracted dog with no prior training. Slow, consistent steps with proper reinforcement has done nothing but make this dog and handler team stronger!

I couldn’t even begin to explain to y’all how proud I am of this trio. Archie on the right and Anabelle on the left have worked so hard each and every week trying to learn, listen, and grasp what their mama is trying to teach them. Her work is paying off and their relationship is flourishing because of it🥺 10/10 Recommend putting the time in for your dog👏🏻

Reactive dog who? Tila has been crushing it with threshold work. Dogs are a pretty big trigger for Tila so we are working on changing that emotional state through desensitization and counter-conditioning. (And Gracie is a pretty cute helper if I do say so myself)

Ignore my last sentence that made no sense🤦🏻‍♀️ and pay attention to Jax crushing it on only his second lesson of loose leash walking!

Petco just took a major step in the best direction! Stop the shock people! This is huge, anyone who knows me and what my dog training stands for knows how much I can’t stand the use of these collars. Thank you Petco for understanding that training is something positive and shouldn’t be based out of fear. Training should build relationships, training should be fun, training is confidence. Next is prong collars🙌🏻. Thank you Petco, I hope many others follow.
