What a fantastic weekend! Extremely thankful for the people who pushed me to take this opportunity & evaluate Freyja this year. With 7.95 overall, Freyja is now a high second prize mare, which is an accurate & exciting description of where she is right now. She is also the highest evaluated horse in the US this year! Could not be more satisfied with how this went! Thank you, to Montaire Icelandics, for your hospitality, dedication & enthusiasm for the future of Icelandic Horses in the US. 🤩 I cannot wait for what’s in store!

After 3 months away, I’m back home in KY! 🇺🇸 It was an honor and privilege to work at one of the top stables in Iceland… and with some of the most accomplished trainers in the history of Icelandic horsemanship.

I’ve brought home so much inspiration, and I can’t wait to share it with you all this year.

I will be working on catching up with everyone this week. My calendar is filling up already- but I’m so excited about it!

Búi is a registered Icelandic Horse standing at 13.3 hands. He is six years old and has four, well separated gaits. Búi is quiet and polite on the ground; he loves being with his people. He has been extensively trail ridden and goes well alone or with other horses. He has been ridden through streams, over bridges, up & down steep trails, and alongside chickens & dogs.

Under saddle, Búi is always aiming to please. He is light and responsive to all aids. Búi has a lot to offer anyone who is looking for a trail or schooling companion; he has begun lateral work and made remarkable progress. He is a very enjoyable horse to work with because he has such a high aptitude for learning. The possibilities are endless with this guy!

Woohoo! This weekend was the first in-person show we’ve attended since 2019. We’re returning home very thankful... for Montaire Icelandics, for Antje Freygang’s hospitality and for our Icelandic Horse community. This weekend has inspired & defined many goals.... and so winter training begins. See you at Montaire in 2023!

Bid this little lady a farewell today. Kolka- former pace racer, cattle rancher & donkey wrangler. 😉 At 26 years old, she’s had many jobs. She came to me for some low-intensity, high frequency training to keep her aging well. A true old Icelandic... honest, clever and brave. We wish her more years of riding with her loving owner!

Tips for trail riding:
1... teach your horses to be ridden with dogs if you can- dogs are great for desensitizing. 😅

2... if you’re riding in the forest, don’t forget your whip (aka your spider sword), so you can tear down webs before they get on your face. 🕷 🗡
