Hello Everyone,

Please be patient with the staff as we are receiving a large number of requests for records. We understand the need and concern for receiving your pet’s records and are processing them as quickly as possible. We will be here finalizing the practice closure until December 1st. We will continue to get the records out to you. If you have an appointment with another hospital or clinic, we will send the records over as soon as possible or when requested by your veterinarian.
As stated in the previous letter, for ongoing chronic cases, we will see you through the end of October.
This is a difficult time for all of us and your understanding and patience is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Dr. Scott and Staff 🩵

Dear Pet Owners,

It is with heavy hearts that we need to announce the closing of Rock Hall Veterinary Hospital effective October 1st. Due to a serious lack of veterinarians countrywide, we have been unable to find a vet to take over our practice even after searching for a year and a half. Finding additional qualified and dependable staff has also been a challenge and we are understaffed every day. This staffing situation is also happening across the country, not just in the veterinary industry. Many small practices are closing, and larger practices are being bought up by corporations, often at the expense of our animals’ health. Dr. Scott has some health issues which prompted the search for a new vet a year and a half ago.
All scheduled appointments will be honored.
You may request copies of your records, and we will make them available to pick up or you may request that we email them to your new vet. Please understand that requests may take a few days to complete as there are over 2,000 patient records that will need to be processed.

For ongoing cases, we will continue to support treatment and care while we seek out appropriate care at other hospitals or clinics. By December 1st we will no longer be able to treat any patients.
Please understand that this has been a very difficult decision, and we realize this may be a hardship for some of you. This is a wonderful community, and we have truly enjoyed our relationship with all of you.

You may request records, ask questions, or order medications by sending an email to: [email protected]

Sincerely,
Dr. Scott

Good morning!

In regards to the circulating rumors about recalls on Purina Food Products, we have reached out to Purina and they have issued this statement:

"Purina Response to Online Rumors
January 5, 2024

Please beware of online rumors claiming there are issues with Purina products – these false statements may be creating unnecessary stress for pet parents. There are no health or safety issues with any of our products, and they can continue to be fed with confidence.

At Purina, we take pride in feeding 46 million dogs and 68 million cats every year. The quality, safety and nutrition of our products is our highest priority, and we take feedback from concerned pet owners and veterinarians very seriously. Our Quality Assurance team leads more than 100,000 quality checks EVERY DAY across our factory network with the goal of ensuring our products are safe at every stage of the process – from when our ingredients arrive at our factories to when we ship our final food and treats out to retailers and consumers. Our comprehensive program ensures the foods you feed your pets, and that we feed our own, are safe.

The health and safety of pets – yours and our own – will never be compromised.

If you read something online that concerns you, or you have any questions about your pet food, please feel free to reach out to our team. We also recommend researching the source of these posts. Some are well-intentioned pet parents who are genuinely concerned and trying to be helpful, while others may be trying to create chaos and distrust of certain brands as an opportunity to sell their own products. Either way, please know that if there is a confirmed issue with any Purina product, we will be sharing that information with our consumers first."

Thank you

Good morning,

In regards to the canine respiratory illness circulating the news:

We do not know much about this illness at this time; however, it
is possibly something that already exists and is not as wide spread as the news is leading it to be. We know , in most cases, it is not responsive to antibiotics.

1. our advice is to be sure to have your dog vaccinaed for their usual vaccines as well as Canine Infuenza, Bordetella and Parainfluenza.

2. Avoid areas where your dog could be exposed to unvaccinated dogs as this is appears to be easily transmitted.

3. Only use kennels and groomers that require all vaccines.

There is quite a bit of research being done on this disease. If we find out any more information, we will let everyone know.

Thank you

UPDATE: There are two familys that are intrested in Dutchess at this time, if anything falls through we will give another update. Thank you all for being such a supportive community of animal lovers!

A 10 month old female Great Dane, Dutchess, was found to be neglected, thin and dehydrated. She has recently been placed with a foster family; however, they are unable to keep her.

She is sweet and great with other dogs. Unknown if she is good with children as previous owner/foster family did not have any.

She recived a bath, teeth brushing, and nail clipping on Saturday. She does have a cherry eye in her right eye; however, is scheduled for next week. Unsure about vaccine history at this time.

If anyone is interested please call Shakera at 410-699-1476.

07/11/2023

Due to unforseen illness the hospital will be closed tomorrow 11/8/23.

We will reopen on Thursday 11/9/23 during normal business hours. We apologize for any inconvience.

We would like to thank all of those in the community that reached out and donated for this sweet family.

Words can not express how much they appreciate all the kind words and donations given. They are pretty overwhelmed now with all that they have, so if anyone would still like to donate, we ask that the donation be a gift card for groceries.

Huge Thank you to Tina Cohey, Pat Carey, Jackie Appleton, Barbara Zeigler, Heather Burn, Suzanne Einstein, Christy Stinchocor, Jackie Snyder and The Women in Need Inc.

As some of you know, there was a house fire in Rock Hall earlier in the week. It happened to be one our clients. It is with great sadness to say not only did these owners loose their home and everything in it, but they lost their dogs as well.

Gunner (Brown) battled with Parvo in the early weeks of being a puppy last year. It was our medical team and his strong determination that helped him through such a scary time. He not only survived but flourished, turning 1 year old in May of this year. You can see him grow in the attached photos.

He was blessed with a little brother, Chompers (white), 18 weeks old, a couple months ago. He was playful and loving and the two were inseperable best buds.

Gunner and Chompers were sweet boys and will be greatly missed by everyone here at the vet.

Our hearts go out to this sweet family in time of their loss and ask if the community can give any donations. The family does not need any clothing or food as they are overwhelmed with those donations right now.

They are in need of blankets, towels, kitchen towels, kitchen items such as dishes, silverware, microwave ext. Gift cards are ok too.

Please drop off any donations here at the vet and we will be sure the family recieves them.

Thank you to all.
