Meet Potsy! Potsy is a 3-4 year old Guinea Pig that is seeking his forever home!

Potsy was an unexpected surrender to Twin Tails when on a Rattery rescue call. While Potsy’s previous owner did care about Potsy and surrender him so he could have the best life possible, his life previously was not the greatest. He has lived in a small cage in 4-6” of f***s for however long. Potsy deserves a nice Piggie familiar owner who will be able to house him with at least one other Pig, and be properly educated of their housing and commitment needs.

Six years ago, Todd Schumacher, a silent victim of intimate partner abuse, was tragically murdered. Todd’s murder occurred shortly after his dog, Monroe, suffered at the hands of Todd’s partner.

In intimate partner abuse situations, abusers may manipulate and control their human victims through threatened or actual violence against family pets. Researchers have found that over 83% of individuals entering intimate partner shelters reported their partners also abused or killed family pets.

On the anniversary of Todd’s murder, Amy Schumacher, Todd’s sister, wants everyone to “be aware of potential abuse or escalation of abuse. In my brother’s case, animal abuse escalated to human abuse and ultimately led to the death of both. I learned of the abuse too late. There are ways to get help if communicated somehow. Please reach out.”

I’ve had several messages recently asking if I am taking in rescues, YES. I do ask that you provide as much food as possible and their belongings as I may not always have my own cages available. Rescue rats MAY be adopted out, but I get attached easily so there’s always that 😂 Please just send me over a PM and we can discuss what I can do to help you!

This is the Legacy litter. Thankfully, prior to Fish passing, we successfully had a litter that he sired. Basil absolutely adored Fish. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to start a line with Fish.

Unfortunately Fish has passed away, Fish passed shortly before my work shift yesterday but I had to push through it and finally felt his loss this morning when I went to check on the Rattery. I called out for Fish and looked and saw that he wasn’t there, and his hammock is gone since he is laid with it. Seeing such an empty cage was devastating. You will be missed so deeply Fish.
