Some cats do better with vacation sits more than others. Siena really struggles when her momma is gone. She is usually under a bed when I arrive for a visit. So, for the latest sit, I decided to use all the calming tools in my bag: a Feliway diffuser on both floors and some Feline Pet Tunes in the kitchen. I think it helped, as I never found her under a bed whenever I stopped by. Pet care is not just about taking care of the pet's physical needs but also addressing their emotional needs, which is equally important.

Sometimes you just need to stop and smell the flowers. Titus is a supersonic eater, so I got him a snuffle mat to slow his eating pace and to encourage him to utilize his hunting and foraging skills.

I had the privilege of caring for Ben and Bella this past weekend. They have not been without their pet parents since before Covid. As you can see in the day 1 pics, they are both quite stressed. The original plan was for me to visit once a day to tend to their basic needs. It quickly became apparent that they needed a bit more so I switched to overnight visits. They didn't become my snuggle buddies in the span of 3 days but they did relax enough to come out from under the beds. An abrupt change can be quite stressful for pets and there is no one-size-fits-all type of solution on how to ease that stress. Changing my visits from 30 minutes once a day to overnights did not completely eliminate Ben and Bella's stress but it did help them relax a bit. Maybe we will be snuggle buddies next vacation visit 🤞!
