Good Evening,
I am excited to announce that I will be offering group classes this fall. They will run for four weeks. They will each take place at a different public place. I am going to start them in the middle of September. The classes will be on a Saturday or Sunday mid-morning/afternoon. If its raining we will just schedule the next available weekend

I will release dates in the next day or so, so I can get on everyone's calendar. If your interest, please text me. I will require payment for class before you attend, but you can pay weekly and not all at once.

In my group classes, we generally go for a pack walk before we get into any actual training exercises. I encourage owners to bring treats.

Brutus. Another baby that needs our help!

Two months ago, Brutus was a healthy and vibrant two year old Belgian Malinois in a loving family. His Dad loved him, but was struggling with addiction issues. His Dad was then arrested and thrown into prison. His Mom then was evicted from their apartment. The kids were put into the system. Forced to give up Brutus until she got her feet on the ground, Brutus was entrusted to their "friend," who was a "trainer."

We picked Brutus up today, scrawny, dehydrated, and with a 105.5 temperature. Brutus has been beaten and lost his trust with people. He almost lost his life but Against All Oddz Animal Alliance Inc., he is with us and our life saving trainer and friend, Jackson and DDT Behavioral. His first trip was of course the vet and he has since stabilized. Brutus the Belgian has a long road ahead but , we will get there. Please consider contributing to Brutus' care... he will need a lot of it. The war on drug is a war on families.

Cooper remembered me!!! 😭😭❤️🐾
Cooper is a dog I met two years ago who I adopted out to a beautiful family.
This adoption was special. Cooper spent 9 years in a shelter, in a kennel. Some of those years, were without heat in the winter, because the shelter couldn’t afford to get HVAC. 9 YEARS of just shelter life. We were so excited to find a home where Cooper could land! He now lives the best life and is the king of the castle!

He remembered me, after two years, because me and him had a bond. I knew he was the best boy- we worked together to get him out of a kennel and into a home! He is staying with us for 10 days while his family gets a well deserved vacation!

Today, Lola is leaving on a jet plane to be of service and companionship to her momma.

This is a proud day for everyone involved in the training and development of Lola Jean. She is task trained to help her mom through anxiety and panic attacks. She has her AKC Canine Good Citizen title and is officially her service animal.

I will miss Lola 😍🐶🥰 and her mom as this journey has been amazing! I hope Lola enjoys the weather down in Florida!

Moe 🥰

He’s currently boarding with me but we have history.

I trained this guy about a year ago, and his owners are happy to report he’s still on the path to good behavior!

*****EDIT***** I need to make very clear that the owners did the work and followed through. They listened to how to care for their dog. They did what I suggested. Complete credit to these owners! 🥰

I’m so excited to spend some time with the handsome guy! 🐶🥰

Dogs learn the rules really quickly. They learn what’s allowed and what they can get away with!

Leaving leashes on in the house while training or adjusting a new dog to your home has many benefits:

- helps you maintain folllow through and consistency and gives you better timing for re-direction or correction. For example: if the dog grabs a dish towel and runs away, it’s much easier to step on the leash and grab the dog right away, instead of chasing the dog around playing a game of catch me if you can.

- makes the environment non-confrontational by allowing you to grab the leash, instead of grabbing at the collar.

- helps the dog make better decisions because they realize they are accountable for behaviors such as counter surfing, getting in the garbage, jumping on guests, etc.

This handsome guy, Danger, has amazing manners in the house. He knows the rules of the house and can maintain his composure even with food nearby!

Changing your dogs behavior is possible with patience and follow through. Reach out for more information on our in-home program!

This is literally every day conversations with clients.
05/04/2022

This is literally every day conversations with clients.

Hopefully that grabbed your attention. We’re making this post to talk about decompression when bringing a new animal into your home. We’ve recently had an increase in returns on newly adopted dogs. Dogs that come back to us through no fault of their own. Dogs that are returned and are living in homes with other dogs and kids, just as they were prior to being adopted.

We are frustrated.

These dogs then get relisted, and people wonder what’s wrong with them - because it must be the dog, right? It’s like when a house is pending and then relisted. It looks like there’s something bad about the house but in all reality the buyers financing fell through.

The truth of it all, is that it all comes down to decompression. It is one of the most important things we stress when adopting out our animals. It’s so important, in fact, that it’s a specific piece of our contract.

Newly adopted dogs need decompression and structure. They need YOU to guide them. All of our dogs come from all different backgrounds and experiences. It is completely normal, when adapting to a new home environment for them to revert back or be nervous. There is where YOU come in as their leader. They need you to listen to the advice given to use by trainers. They need you to guide them, to tell them it’s ok.

And please note, guiding them absolutely does not mean free run of the house, immediate access to a bucket of toys, laying on beds and couches, having new people over to meet them etc. It does not mean letting them lose in the house to grab all the toys, jump on other animals, jump on furniture and be pushy. These are allowing insecurity to set in and are detrimental to the dog. You can’t do these things and expect it to miraculously work out.

Guiding them means restricting visitors, toys, food, interactions with resident animals until they can get their bearings straight. It means setting a schedule. It means taking the full two weeks to a month to allow them to settle. It means every reward is earned until they can truly relax again. This is SO critical that it’s part of our contract. And yet, returns are increasing.

We are frustrated.

We see the email 24 hours after adoption - dog is guarding toys. Dog is jumping on the kids. You lied about dog and they must be gone today.
• What we really see - dog can do whatever he/she wants and they are insecure so they are acting out.
• What we really see - a newly adopted dog who isn’t dragging a leash to be corrected.
• What we really see - A dog that has complete free roam of the house and is insecure so they are taking the toys and rough housing with the kid.
• What we really see - absolutely no boundaries and decompression.

So we take dog back. Into his foster home with three other dogs and three kids. And dog has structure. Dog doesn’t have unlimited access to everything.

And guess what. Dog thrives. Dog is the great dog we adopted out.

I love Sean O’Shea. He makes valid points.

Dogs can and will learn what the right thing to do is, only after you’ve communicated properly.

“I have tried everything and the dog won’t get better.” Generally means “I’ve tried everything in comfortable with and it’s not working.”

Choosing the easier option is generally easier for you, not the dog.

To just say THANK YOU for supporting my business.

This new year I am looking to accomplish a few things business wise:

1. Finish my first service dog/client. I really want to make this a big part of my efforts this year.

2. Run my first AKC CGC Certification course.

3. Successfully train a dog on human scent to predict medical incidents or mental health issues like night terrors or anxiety.

I hope everyone has a Healthy and safe new year. I truly appreciate your support as always.

Pictured below is Lola, who spent a week with us on Christmas. She was sleeping so pretty! 😍 Lola is aiming to be our first registered service dog this year!!!
