Our mission is to balance the health, safety, and welfare needs of canines in the Dallas/Fort Worth area by providing nourishment and a safe environment for unwanted, stray, abused, and impounded Boxers. Once placed in new homes they become more than just pets, they become family.

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Ramsay
HI! My name is Ramsay! I am a handsome 3 year old flashy fawn boy that is an adopted return owner surrender due to not getting along with the other dogs in the home and my family unable to properly train me at this time. For everyone's safety it is best that I am the only dog in the home. I am described as active and affectionate! I tend to dash for the door and need proper training to correct that manner. It is said that I am kid friendly, however no kids live in my home. I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep in the human's room on a pillow. When the humans must be away and I am left alone, I react fine. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, rubber balls, tennis balls, being outside, and running! 🎙 Foster Spotlight - Dacey
Hi! My name is Dacey! I am a beautiful 8 month old black with brown undercoat girl that is here to win you over! Not much is known about my history. I originally wandered into a yard and the owner was unable to care for me so the rescue took me in! I am very sweet with medium energy and very mature and well behaved for my age! I know basic commands, do not jump on furniture or people, house trained, leash trained, and doggy door trained! I sleep on my dog bed at night and have not needed to be crate trained. If that is needed in my forever home, I will need assistance learning that manner. I can be a little timid when I hear other dogs barking or a train passing, but overall I am a gentle giant! I have no resource guarding and am friendly with other dogs! I can play rough due to my size and puppy energy so I would need a fur sibling that is ok with that! 🎙 Foster Spotlight - Bulma
Hi! My name is Bulma! I am a beautiful 2 year old flashy fawn girl that is looking for my forever home! Not much is known about my history except that I was an owner surrender due to being too active for my older caretaker and the grandkids and resident dogs not welcoming of me, so the rescue took me in! I am happy, have a good temperament, am very sweet and tend to be more submissive! I have puppy high energy and may not be suitable for small children unless they are very dog savvy. I am very energetic when walking on leash and not fully house trained, so my foster mom is helping me learn those manners! I am needing to add some weight and will eat like I haven't eaten in days so a slow feeder is being used for me. I sleep well in my crate at night and know basic commands! I am very curious and nosey about what is going on around me. Exploring the kitchen counters is my favorite thing to do, but I am learning counter surfing isn't a good manner. I love to play ball! I have no resource guarding and am friendly with other dogs! I have puppy energy and can play rough so I would need a fur sibling that is ok with that! My ideal home would be one where my owner is patient and can continue with my house training and help me learn how to be an even better girl! I would benefit from an owner that is available for regular walks to help me burn off my energy! 🏡 Happy Gotcha Day Leonora & Gellar!
Leonora and Gellar were both adopted by families from the DFW area. They were fostered farther south in Austin and San Antonio respectively, and their new families made the drive and it was a love match for both! Congratulations to both these lucky pups and their new families!

Laila V & Duke IX are owner surrenders in Dallas/Fort Worth looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Laila V ! I am a beautiful 11 year old flashy fawn lady that is an owner surrender due to a family member's decline in health and my family is unable to care for me any longer. My brother, Duke IX, is also available for adoption and because we are a bonded pair, it is important that we be adopted together. I am a proud member of the rescue's Silver Heart Program so be sure to ask about it because there are a lot of perks for our adoptive family! I am described as friendly, shy, active, smart, calm, playful, affectionate, quiet, nervous, and obedient! We are dog friendly but neither of us have lived with cats so it is unsure if we are feline friendly. We currently live with a 2 year old human kid and do well with him! We are house trained, crate trained, and at night sleep on a dog bed. When the humans must be away we get lonely and sad because we love being with them. When outside we have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences. We are fearful of loud noises such as thunder or fireworks. Some of my favorite things are chew toys, tug of war ropes, squeaky toys, tasty snacks, special treats, puzzle feeders, belly rubs, ear scratches, dog beds, blankets, napping in the sun, and quality time with the humans!

Buddy III is an owner surrender in Houston looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Buddy! I am a handsome 7 year old flashy sealed brindle boxer that is an owner surrender due to my caretaker seeing me being dumped and she took me in and helping me find my forever home! I am currently on antibiotics for a uti (I have an enlarged prostate which makes me have to go outside more often but should resolve with being neutered) but other than that I am a healthy boy! I am described as friendly, calm, playful, affectionate, quiet, and obedient! There is a resident dog in my current home that I want to play with but they aren't very welcoming of that. I haven't had much exposure to small children (currently living with teenagers) but my caretaker thinks due to my mild and calm temperament that I would be fine! I am not a fan of cats so I need a cat free home! I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep in my kennel. I have never been left alone so it is unsure how I would react when the humans are away. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences. I received my first toy yesterday so I am learning about those! Some of my favorite things are riding in the car and being around people! My caretaker says I am very sweet, appear to not have had much affection but wants to be, and I deserve a family that will walk me and love me! I am a handsome 9 year old flashy fawn gentleman that is an owner surrender due to my owners moving to South America and just found out my boxer sister and I are banned from flying in cargo. My sister, Silver Heart Sophie IV, is also available for adoption but it is not required that we get adopted together. I am described as friendly, active, smart, affectionate, and playful! I am said to be dog friendly, but need slow introductions to new dog friends. I was raised around children and I love them, especially if they will play with me and not get knocked down! I currently live with a cat and will chase them so I need a cat free home. I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep with the teenage human. When the humans must be away and I am left alone, I do well. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig. I can be a scaredy cat of things, but when told it's ok, I settle and am ok. I am a beautiful 11 year old flashy fawn lady that is an owner surrender due to my owner's moving to South America and just found out my boxer brother and I are banned from flying in cargo. My brother, Junior, is also available for adoption but it is not required that we get adopted together. I have been blinded in one eye all my life but it doesn't stop or hinder me in any way! I am described as friendly, calm, affectionate, quiet, and obedient! It should be mentioned that I hate crates. I panic in a crate so I am left free about the house and am on my best behavior! When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences. 🏡 Happy Gotcha Day Banjo II & Isabelle!
Banjo II was an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He enjoyed his time in his foster home but found his new family! Everyone is so happy and congratulations to everyone involved!
Isabelle found her new family!
Her foster mom said she was a pure delight and she immediately came out of her shell once she hit their backyard with their pack. She knew this tiny lovebug is going to make someone a perfect best friend and she was right!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Chloe VI

Chloe VI is an owner surrender in Austin looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Chloe VI ! I am a beautiful 2-3 year old flashy fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to not getting along with the other female dog in the home. I get along with other family members male dogs and the resident chihuahua, but I need a home with no female dogs. I am described as shy, active, playful, affectionate, and nervous! I get excited and will try to jump on people to give them hugs, but am easily corrected. I haven't had much exposure to kids except for my owner's 9 year old granddaughter and I love her! I have never lived with a cat but I chase small animals that get in my yard on the farm so a cat free home may be best. I can be shy and anxious when meeting new people and will try to hide under the bed when new people come to my home. I am house trained, doggy door trained, know basic commands, and sleep in the human bedroom. My favorite place is on the human's bed where I can touch or lay against them. I will need assistance with crate training manners if that is required in my forever home. When the humans must be away and leave me alone, I can be a little anxious but am calm and do best with them near me. When outside I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. I am capable of jumping a kiddie gate, but not a fence. I am fearful of loud and sudden noises, fireworks, gunshots, and new people coming to my home. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, squeaky toys, running in the large fenced yard, treats, toys, deer antlers, cuddling, and laying on the couch in the evening! Burreaux is an owner surrender in Austin looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Burreaux (pronounced Burrow)! I am a beautiful 4-year-old fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to not getting along with the small dog in the home. I am great with the bigger dogs in the home but due to not getting along with the smaller dog, I need to be an only dog or live with big dogs only. I am described as having a friendly demeanor. I currently live with a labradoodle and lab and get along fine with them. When I go for a walk, I will be reactive to all dogs but am easily controlled and corrected with my walking collar. I currently live with a 13 year old kid and do fine. I do not live with a cat and it is recommended that I do not live with them due to not getting along with smaller animals. I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep in my bed or crate. When the humans must be away I react great to being alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not attempt to jump fences/gates or dig. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, any toys, being with the family, and going for walks! My current home says they “love me so much and that I am awesome with the exception of not getting along with a smaller dog”. 🏡 Happy Gotcha Day!
Pez and Franz are two younger boxer boys that were pulled from shelters in the DFW area in late November. They had their vettng completed and spent some fun time in their foster homes.
Both found their forever homes! Pez will be hanging his head in Austin and Franz in Houston.

Hi! My name is Chewy! I am a handsome 3 year old fawn boy that is an owner surrender due to my current owners being unable to give me the time I deserve. I am described as friendly, active, smart, calm, protective, playful, affectionate, and obedient! It is said that I am dog friendly but I do have times where I get jealous. I am said to be kid friendly and currently live with an 8 year old. It is unsure if I am cat friendly, so a proper introduction would be needed. I am house trained, crate trained, know basic commands, and at night I sleep in my crate or anywhere in the home. When the humans must be away, I react great being left alone. When I am outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. 🏡 Happy Gotcha Day!
My heart is so full today with love and appreciation! Everyone who works with ABR and DFW Rescue supported, funded, followed, and prayed in the care and adoption of Leon! He was a stray with a partially amputated limb, we were able to get him vet care and he is now a happy mobile tripod.
Now today with tears, I get to say he found his forever home! We will miss him! Some of the worst cases turn out to be true blessings! Happy Home Leon! Congratulations to a wonderful family! 🌲🎁🎉♥️🎉🎊🎈♥️🌲

Help Us Prepare for Our Annual Fall Online Auction! It's time to start planning for our annual fall online auction! We need your help to connect with contacts and secure donation items for this important fundraiser. Your support is crucial in making this event a success, so let's get started and gather some amazing auction items! Some ideas to get you started: 1. Cooking or Baking Class: Offer a private or group class with a professional chef, covering various cuisines or techniques. 2. Wine Tasting Experience: Provide a guided wine tasting, either in-person at a winery or virtually. 3. Art or Craft Workshop: Host a workshop on painting, pottery, knitting, or other crafts. 4. Update: ABR Swenny's puppy personality is really starting to shine. She is incredibly sweet and playful, keeping us on our toes as we try to keep her quiet and stop her from chewing on sticks and everything else a curious puppy finds. She loves playing with the "dog" in the mirror or chasing shadows on the floor, but her favorite activity is cuddling on the couch. "Buttons" is also doing better in the crate but still prefers to sleep with my husband on the floor at night. Swenny had a check-up with the vet yesterday, which led to another surgery. Some of the bone on either side of her mandible had died and needed to be cleaned out, and parts of her first surgery required repairs. The good news is that Swenny is no longer on a feeding tube, and the vet is optimistic about her making a full recovery. 🎙 Foster Spotlight - Annie III Hi! My name is Annie III! I am a 2-year-old flashy fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to being found as a stray and my current caretaker is unable to keep me. I was found very malnourished and appeared to be over-bred. Because my current caretaker is unable to keep me, I temporarily live at her work (veterinarian office). I am described as friendly, calm, noisy, affectionate, and nervous. I do not like to be away from humans. If I'm close to them I will comfortably sleep but if left alone, I will bark and cry. I am working on house training and occasionally still have accidents. I seem interested in other dogs but have not had proper exposure to dogs or kids, so a proper introduction would be needed for them. I had exposure in my caretaker’s house with cats in which I tried to get very close to and chase them and if I got too close they would swat and hiss at me and I would squeal. A proper introduction with cats would be encouraged as well. When I get excited, I will nip and jump to try to lick your face. I will need assistance with crate training if that is what is required in my forever home. When the humans must be away and I am left alone, I bark a lot and occasionally have an accident. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences or gates. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, cuddling, attention from people, food, and affection! My current caretaker says I am “a very sweet girl and deserves a second chance with an owner who will train me to be my best”.
