Lupin has been available for adoption for nearly a YEAR! Can you help find his home? Lupin is a young, male, 60lb pit mixed with something else (potentially shepherd? but we don’t know).

He is extremely agile and athletic, with a TON of love to give! Lupin loves people, and is good with dogs with a proper, slow introduction. He is a little too prey driven for cats or small dogs though. He also is totally happy to be an only dog.

He will be your best running partner, hiking buddy or all around great adventure dog!

Please reach out if you’re interested in Lupin- he currently is crate trained, housebroken, knows all basic commands (sit, down, come, place), and knows paw, with endless potential to learn more.

Lu is a fun, athletic, young dog that would enjoy an active life with someone who will throw his toys for him every day. He loves play time and cuddle time, always rolls over for belly rubs and is a super sweet guy.

Lupin is very smart, and knows all basic commands as well as being off leash capable. He is prong, gentle lead, & remote collar trained, he comes with everything he needs and his adopter will receive free follow up lessons to ensure he is on the right path.

Lu is still on the hunt for his forever home. We are coming up on a year of being in foster with us, he is the longest dog we’ve had in this program. He has had no true interest, no applications, no one that will give him a shot at a real life.

Everyone who meets him can’t help but love him, and he always gets compliments on how well behaved he is out and about!

He is fully trained, and whoever is lucky enough to adopt him will receive FREE sessions to ensure he acclimates well into his new home.

What would his perfect home entail?

Somewhere he has plenty of toys, that he gets to play with every day! A soft bed or couch to cuddle on and receive belly rubs. 💜A place he can relax all to himself, without having to worry about other pets. He would love a house with a fenced in yard, height doesn’t matter because as long as he’s with you he’s happy 😊 If you have another young, rough and tumble dog, and are willing to crate & rotate until they become friends, we are happy to work out a meet & greet. Lu loves his foster siblings, it just took him some time to be able to trust them 🙏🏽

He knows ALL basic commands on & off leash, and just wants someone to love on him and take care of him. Could it be you?

when you have to hit the grocery store but the dogs haven’t had a training session yet- you kill two birds with one stone 😅 Dalia hasn’t been having a great day health wise, but was a trooper and shopped while I worked the dogs outside.

fun fact: jason hasn't been to the river since we first adopted him. when we went he had a no pull ezwalk harness (and still pulled), he was a reactive mess that we couldn't even allow to enjoy the environment, and we never wanted to do that again.

fast forward to now, we squeezed in a last minute trip to belle isle & he was a perfect boy 😭💜 every single day i am beyond impressed with how much we've grown together, and our relationship now.

welcome carlisle the doberman!

he is with us for a 2 week board & train to brush up on his skills and develop better coping mechanisms in the face of the devil! and by the devil I mean other dogs, and sometimes people with hoodies or scary sunglasses. we will get carl on the right track, stay tuned to see his progress over the weeks!

Lupin has been with us for nearly a year, our longest foster! We have no idea why. He is fully trained and ready for his forever home. Lu is a fun, athletic, young dog that would enjoy an active life with someone who will throw his toys for him every day. 💙 He loves play time and cuddle time, always rolls over for belly rubs and is a super sweet guy.

He would do best being adopted into a home as the only pet, or a submissive dog with a rough play style ONLY if you are willing to crate & rotate until he is comfortable. With these dogs pictured, it took between 3-4 months of indirect interaction being near each other before they could play together.

this week & weekend was a total whirlwind but super rewarding!

This past week Dandy, a dog that was placed through our foster program, celebrated 1 year in her perfect forever home! We did some training and partied after with play time, it was great to see how she's blossomed in the comfort of her own space.

I didn't get many photos, but Tucker & Vinny came for a short stay, and our pal Walter is with us for a few more days. We have more graduates coming for boarding the end of this week, and it'll be ramping up as the weather gets warmer and more people take trips out of town.

PW has been doing amazing in his new foster home, and we have some follow up sessions on the calendar to ensure everything is going smoothly. We are so happy for him!

With PW being placed, we are able to continue providing a safe place for Lupin to continue strengthening his training for a bit longer. He is still in search of his forever home and is the funniest, goofiest boy just waiting for his people!

We have a new dog coming in for board & train starting tomorrow and I'm super excited! Carl the doberman has completed in home training a few years prior, but still is in need of a deep dive, intensive training to truly work on his mindset and reactivity. Stay tuned for his progress!

Maggie is our current B&T here at Bat Hound K9, and she has come so far! She is an extremely anxious and nervous dog, which translated into some reactivity towards dogs on the leash. We have been building her confidence, teaching her structure and boundaries, and she is blossoming into her best self!

It will still take time and consistency once she goes back home, but she’s set up for success and has learned to follow the humans rather than take the situation into her own paws. She met a new dog today in the hustle and bustle of Short Pump Mall and didn’t say a hoot.

E collars are your invisible leash, not a torture device.

Whenever we hear folks talk about them like they’re these inhumane pieces of equipment, it just shows the lack of knowledge about them.

And ultimately, this fear around the tool is what’s hindering so many dog owners and dogs.

When you learn how to properly condition and train on a remote collar, your world expands.

Your dog gets more freedom.

You can have silent and impactful conversations with your dog

E collars are basically a leash that isn’t attached to you, so you can keep your dog safe in any given moment.

There are probably a thousand different ways to use e collars, but fully training your dog to understand them in multiple contexts is really the kindest thing you could ever do for them.

Eventually the tool just becomes like your seatbelt in the car. Just sits there, doing nothing, but when push comes to shove… it’s there for you when it’s needed.

We don’t train dogs to comply because they’ve been “shocked” (another huge lie out there)

We train dogs to listen to verbal cues first and foremost.

The remote collar just supplements the work and the thousands of repetitions it took to teach the dog in the first place. It’s an additional step in the process. Not a “lazy way out.”

People often love the results but hate the process. Meanwhile, dogs and owners are having a great time knowing they have full off leash control and reliability 🙌🏻
