✨Muzzle Conditioning Basics✨ 1- have your dog on a leash 2-open the muzzle and place a treat inside (and hold the muzzle with your hand like a bowl) 3- present the muzzle near his face and wait until he smells the treat 4- DONT MOVE your hands while he’s taking the treat 5- repeat steps 1-4 with your dogs breakfast and dinner *everyday* for 4 days. 6- fold the straps up and repeat steps 1-4 everyday for 4 days. 7- repeat steps 1-4 and when he is taking the treat, pull the strap back and forth around their head to get used to the feeling/system 8- repeat until you can strap on the muzzle and continue feeding until you take the muzzle off (start with 30 seconds- 1 minute) Lastly, you will slowly increase the amount of time your dog wears the muzzle, first around the house and yard, and then wear it out on walks and to vet and grooming appointments. (2+weeks) Next use a 50 foot leash! (1-2 weeks Lastly - WHEN YOUR DOG IS RELIABLE - drop the long leash and let your dog drag it. Then and only then will you really see the extent of the training and conditioning you have done.
