We'd like to say our shooting game is better than our golf game, but the jury it's still out on that 🤣😅
We had a great afternoon last Friday shooting, and supporting Central Ohio Canine Foundation so they can help for veterans and first responders!
We even had some special guest from Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak - Never Forgotten shooting with Sam and Adam.
Sunshine, guns and tacos?! We loved it!
Beginning of scent work 🙌 building a strong foundation takes time, but this is an important step in the process.
Want to learn? We've got an awesome introduction to Scent Work class on the schedule!
We are working with our friends
Whispering Pine K9 as they are hosting this course at their beautiful facility.

Did we go to the best indoor shooting range, yes. We. Did.
Lake Erie Arms
We spent the afternoon with the Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak - Never Forgotten celebrating our veterans and showing them some Ohio fun!
Not only was the range and facility beautiful, the lunch was next level!
The support and love we received made it even sweeter.
Max and Maggie got fitted for new saftey gear and hung out in the range for a little training until the guys brought out the big guns 😉
It's important to us to prepare the service dogs for all the fun and adventures with their person.
Stay tuned, more fun on the way!
"If you are able, save a place for them inside of you.... and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go." - Michael O'Donnell, US Army- Vietnam War
It is always an honor to train a service dog for a veteran. With the support of the Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak - Never Forgotten we are able to continue the efforts that are so near and dear to our hearts. Today and everyday we will continue to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms.
We can't wait to show all of Maggie's adventures! We had such a fun and memorable week. We got to see some "old" friends and meet new ones. ❤️
We spy with our little eye.. K9 Maximus ☺️.
Stay tuned!

" I want people to know their is hope for their dog. " - Arlo's Family
When there is understanding, there is hope, and when there is hope, there can be change, and when there is change, the progress is unstoppable.

Here’s my long sappy post about my dog and how I’m so thankful.
I got arlo almost four years ago. My best friend passed away and shortly after I got Arlo. In a way he was an unofficial emotional support companion. I took him everywhere with me and around 6-9 months of age he became reactive. I no longer could take him places and do things in fear it would place us in an unpleasant situation. 6 months of age i got him into a local trainer but didn't even finish the sessions because it was clear the lady had zero experience with shepherds snd dogs like arlo. Around 1-1.5 years old we did basic obedience with sara. Arlo excelled in quickly learning basic commands and i realized he was a working dog. we have never really had family over besides my mom and dad because Arlo was comfortable with them. we found out we were expecting and i had the biggest fear of "am i going to have to get rid of my dog" the thought absolutely broke my heart. we reached out to other trainers but i wasn't really convinced that they would've been a good fit for Arlo based on the consultation and things that they had talked about that's when Tom a.k.a. the dog whisperer came along, worked his magic. Now we are safely integrated as a family at home with our babe. im pretty sure some days my dog loves tom
more than i. We are forever thankful for Tom and Professional K9. Hopefully that wasn't terribly long but i want to let people know that there is hope for their dog.
Loose lead walking, let's talk about what makes it work:
Loose lead walking is not a proper heel, and is classic with the "U" shape in the lead ( that just means you're doing it right 😁☺️)
Loose lead walking is great for structured walks and public settings where you need your dog close for long periods of time.
* a proper heel command and behavior is very strict, rigid, and meant for very short duration, sporting and very specific tasks *
* pressure or lack of - having too much pressure, constant pressure or not enough pressure makes a difference between getting the behavior you want and making things worse.
We often hear "even with the correction collar he pulls". "Nothing works, they just pull anyway! "
Having the right tools is also important.
The best harness or flat collar actually encourages pulling, and we use these tools for certain sports! So walking your dog on a harness to have more control is actually doing the opposite!
By using correction collars the way they are intended, we can create a bridge in communication to our dogs.
[try again, fail again, fail better]
- Samuel Beckett
by continuing to explore and have failure in your training, you have opportunity to grow and extend your reach a little farther each time you begin again.
having set backs makes you better and makes your training and bond stronger and stronger.
These 2 reactive friends could have never have envisioned this as a possibility, but through lots of fails and lots of breakthroughs, they are growing and their possibilities are about to become endless.
🙌 super excited to have some great friends at Wags Bakery. Spent the afternoon touring their dog bakery and grooming salon! we are grateful to contribute our CBD to their adorable store front too!
All of our pupper friends looking to snag some fresh made, clean ingredient treat you won't be disappointed! They even have pup cakes to celebrate all your milestones! 😍
Sometimes training is fun stuff just to show off confidence and control.
Challenging our dogs to try new things like unstable surfaces, weird textures, unfamiliar noises and even maneuvering over and under things elevates their confidence.
Having a confident dog can create so many good opportunities and independence, allowing you to take your pet on all of your adventures!
Professional K9 goes golfing 🤣 💀, We'll let you decide, but I think we're gonna stick with dog training!
Thank you Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak - Never Forgotten for an amazing event
✌️
❤️ today we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. today we pray for their families and friends. May we continue to speak their names and keep their stories and legacies alive.

We always need another round of pupper snoots ❤️
Getting a dog based on cute factor is a recipe for disaster!
Every breed has their own traits and characteristics that go back hundreds of years. There is no "training them out of it" or " but this one is different", herding dogs are going to herd, working dogs are going to need a job, bird dogs need birds 🤣🤣... you get the point.
Researching and investing in a breed that fits your lifestyle will make you so much happier.
If you get an Aussie.... like K9 Aussi here, be prepared to live an active lifestyle, doing things that speak to what aussies are meant for!
Not every herding breed or working breed is going to have a high drive and desire to perform at the most elite level, but they will have a natural instinct that can manifest into unwanted behaviors. It also causes miscommunication between you and your dog.
Training is never one size fits all.
Our diverse group of trainers bring balanced training methods to the table.
We work together to create the best fit plan for you and your dog.
Here is the stay video we promised! Patience, Practice and celebrate the wins! Tag us and let us know how you did!

PSS. YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE EQUIPMENT TO JOIN US.
This seminar is designed to help departments grow, so become an asset to your team!
https://www.professional-k9.com/events/handler-decoy-seminar
In today’s dynamic operational environment, it is vital that the handler and K9 have a decoy that understands the importance of behavioral feedback.
The decoy is critical to the success of the teams' learning to operate and push past the basics to meet the needs of today’s working conditions.
The Decoy must have proper timing, mechanics catching the dog to avoid jams, understand the importance of catching dogs in the front of the suit or legs, on confrontational bites, how to push the dog in defense and then relieve the pressure to improve the dog’s ability to channel drives.
The Tier 3 Handler Decoy class is designed to train handlers and decoys these skills and to improve operational effectiveness.
It's almost tiiiimmmmeeee!
Please please please don't forget eye protection for your bestie and yourself!!!!!
You’ve ever taken a nap while basking in the sun and woken up to a nasty sunburn, you know just how unforgiving the sun can be. Nothing beats being outdoors in the sunshine with your pup, but just like you reach for your favorite shades to keep the sun from your eyes, your dogs deal with the same issue. Sunlight, both UV and visible, can negatively impact your dog’s eye health if they don’t have the right protection. To help you and your dog get the most out of your next adventure without the squinting and long-term side effects, let's break down how sun exposure can impact canine eyesight.
