I switched to making my own formula & look who is over his birth weight! (Finally!) Smalls is growing!!

The puppies have been named!

It’s been a rough weekend with Smalls. Up through yesterday, we were not able to get him to gain any weight. He was maintaining at 3.7oz. His birth weight was 4.5oz. We are feeding him every 2 hours around the clock & started giving him a dab of Karo syrup with the feedings. Since we started giving him the Karo last night, he is finally up to 4.1! We are definitely not out of the woods yet, but excited to see a little progress finally. His littermates are all around 8oz. Thankful for Jon who has taken the last 2 nights off work to help Smalls have a fighting chance!

If you’re looking for something to do tomorrow, come cheer our very own Pluto on!! He will be racing in Canterbury’s Wiener races!
I don’t know if we will be there since we are on puppy watch, but I know he would love to hear his name cheered on!

Due to inclement weather conditions, Canterbury Park has postponed its planned Hormel Foods 4th of July Celebration family activities until Sunday. Live Horse racing today will go on as planned beginning at 1:10PM. ***Tickets purchased for today can be used on Sunday.

And then there was 10! 😳. Our family would like to introduce (or reintroduce) you to Prince! He is Coco’s brother. He is the from the first litter ever born here. The first puppy to ever leave the Half Pint Doxies family, & the first puppy to ever be surrendered back to us.

He unfortunately has IVDD, a spine condition which leaves him paralyzed in the hind end. His owner was unable to care for him & thankfully reached back out to me for help. My promise to every puppy I choose to bring into this world is to be there for them if their family is unable to be.

Prince is the perfect example of resilience!! He is the happiest guy & doesn’t let his disability limit him for a second. Prince is just love! He loves every 2 & 4 legged being that he meets! He loves to be right in the middle of the chaos. We have had him back with us for about a month now. He was accepted into the pack instantly & has loved every minute wrestling with the younger ones.

We are looking at getting Prince a doggie wheelchair, for now he loves his sleep sacks (to keep his hind legs from getting abrasions) for in the house & his doggie stroller!

We don’t know where Princes future will take him. We don’t know if it’s fair for him to be one of 10 dogs. We do know he needs at least one other dog as he enjoys the companionship. We are not actively looking for another home for him, all we know is that if he ever does leave our home again, it will only be to someone that can provide him a better life than we can.
