January is National Train your Dog Month. Each year approx 500k dogs are euthanized in the United States. Some were put down because they are sick, a few becasue they are vicious but most are euthanized because they have not been trained and have become a burden to their owners. Stay + Train is a program designed for pet owners who can not leave their beloved pups for a 3-week Board + Train program. Stay + Train is a drop off and pick up program that runs for 4 weeks Monday-Friday. Your pup will go through 3 training session per day, Leash walking exercises, and eliminate specific behaviors you would like to address. The owner are responsible to work with their pups over the weekend. Give us a call at 615-745-1899 for more information.

Did you know that dogs, like humans, have a dominant hand/paw? Despite a relatively even distribution, research suggests simple tests can reveal your dog's preferred paw. To determine this, try:
1. Kong test- Fell a Kong toy with treats and observe which paw your dog uses to stabilize it. The most frequently used paw indicates dominance.
2. The First Stepping Test- Call your dog from a standing position and note the paw they step off with first. Repeat this exercise several times confirms the dominate paw.

Introducing a new dog into the family and training them to be a useful member of the household takes a lot of time, patience, and commitment. Allow us to take that responsibility off your plate. The Board & Train program is a three-week program where we would bring your dog into our home and have them be a part of our family. Your dog will participate in three formal lessons per day, work on socialization, daily walks, and of course plenty of playtime with a lot of love. You will also receive emails and videos of your dog’s progress.
Your dog will learn the following skills:
Heel on Leash
Sit on Command
Down on Command
Stand on Command
Sit Stay
Down Stay
Recall (call on command)
Stand Stay
At the end of the three-week Board & Train program we will set up two additional private lessons (free of charge) so you can learn what your dog has already learned. We will also be more than happy to answer all your questions.
