There are a few spots available for social hour. If you are interested or know anyone who would be interested in sending their dog(s) to social hour don’t hesitate to reach out. There are a few requirements to join social hour, the biggest one being that you have to complete at least 1 training session with Mack’s Pack.
The reason for this requirement is that social hour is used as an extra step to maintain all the work you the owners have put into your furry friends, for example some dogs are working on building confidence so we use social hour to experience/ work through new or scary things while working with other dogs who are working on similar skills.
spots are limited as I prefer to keep groups small for safety reasons and to make sure each dog gets the help/ attention they need and deserve.

But how? 🤔
Lots of folks have asked me about my pack walk pictures and videos. They’re all from the early days as I was transitioning to full-time training. Back then I could be seen daily walking large packs of dogs all over Los Angeles. And let’s be super clear, most of the dogs I dealt with were not trained, cupcake dogs. In this picture alone there’s a dog who’d bitten their owner (punctures and all) multiple times on walks, a severely dog aggressive dog who’d attacked and injured multiple dogs in the past, a dog with multiple bites on humans, and a handful of dogs so reactive that their owners had stopped walking them. Okay, there’s two cupcakes in here (Goldens I’m looking at you!), but the rest (there’s 12 in total counting the dogs behind me), required some seriously deft handling.
But what is it that enables one person to do this with so many dogs when so many others couldn’t tackle one dog on its own? Is it technique? There’s definitely some of that—you better know how to converse properly through a leash and know how to use all of your body. Is it the right tools? They definitely help. There’s prong collars on the more challenging dogs here—but their owners also were using them and were still struggling.
So what then? It’s what I always say: the right tools, training, AND a leadership mindset.
If you think technique and tools alone will enable all this to work, you’re gravely mistaken. It’s the leadership mindset which is the delivery system that either empowers the technique and tools, or disables and diminishes them. This mindset is what creates the presence (the believability) which conveys a multitude of valuable information to the dog(s) about who you are, what kind of relationship you wish to have, and how the dog(s) should respond to you.
Unfortunately, we’ve worked so hard to undermine the validity of and the belief in the obvious value and impact of the primal conversation between human and dog (leadership is most definitely a primal conversation) that virtually no one understands it, believes in it, or feels comfortable talking about it.
We are in love with the intellectual, and detest the primal. Because the intellectual is safe and politically correct—whereas the primal embraces hierarchy, control, power dynamics, deterrence, fear of consequences… and many other aspects we currently find unsavory.
And while I’m sure that many will find this offensive, outrageous, and terribly antiquated, it’s the most unpleasant elephant in the training and dog owning room which refuses to leave, no matter how often it’s asked to go.
You don’t have to like or agree with nature and reality, but that doesn’t have any impact on how they continue to work… even without your approval.
So if you’re using the best tools and training, and you’re still struggling with your dog, ask yourself how you’re doing when it comes to the primal conversation between you and your dog. You might be surprised how much of your solution is hiding here.

I absolutely love all these dogs and they make my job so fun! Ruckus has just recently started social hour, this would be his 3rd day and look how far he’s come! In such a short time he’s gained so much confidence and has learned to be a fun/positive member of the pack!

Today I got to take Ruckus out and help teach him to socialize with new dogs and humans… and wear out some of that puppy energy he has in him! When dogs are new to the whole socialization thing it can be a tad bit overwhelming, but ruckus had no issue getting into the pack and making some friends.

Well the weather we have had so far this week isn’t ideal, but I have been out and about doing in home sessions showing dog owners ways to work their dogs inside and better their dogs manners all in the comfort of their home. I’m so proud of the hard work and consistency Ruben and his owner have put into building a better relationship/ life together.
For our training session today we started place training. Place is a command you can give your dog to tell them to stay and relax on their bed until called off. This skill can be helpful in many different kinds of situations, for Ruben he goes to work with his owner and instead of relaxing in the kennel all day soon he will be able to relax on his bed while she works!
Ruben has a lot of work ahead but with work and consistency comes great success!

During these cold winter days it can be super hard to get outside. I had a training session with Gus and Rosie’s owner to show some fun and effective ways to work the dogs inside! The main thing I went over was leash work inside… something as simple as walking on leash inside or teaching new skills while on leash can help drain their energy while you’re stuck inside.
In the video Rosie was learning the command “stand”. This is a fun little trick you can add to your tool box while you and your dogs are bored inside. This skill can help in so many different ways, For example at the groomers sometimes they need your dog to stand so teaching your dog to do this simple task could help better their experience and the groomers job.

Ruben is back with the pack this week for a training session after his get away over new years. Since it was chilly and snowy we decided to go stop in at chuck and dons to do some socialization in a public area. Ruben and his owner haven’t been able to confidently go into a store, but today Ruben proved that he is capable of going and being respectful. While we were there we seen a ton of new people and a couple dogs as well. He wasn’t perfect and reacted once or twice but we will take that as a win and keep pushing for better!

I was going through videos from some of my training sessions this summer and I found this beautiful video!
Echo, Bentley and I were out playing at the park when some workers came in their truck and van. The truck was very loud and there were a few people working around the area. Even though echo is skidish of these loud trucks and Bentley is nervous around new people they both did a great job trusting me to handle the situation. We sat and peacefully watched the workers do their job as we worked through a little bit of anxiety before we got back to playing.

With all the chaos and commotion during the holidays it’s extremely important to maintain your dog(s) training. Here’s Rosie and her owner putting in an hour of work with me even though it’s been a crazy couple of weeks! Rosie has a lot of go go go to her, so seeing her match her owners speed while walking on leash was amazing.

Ruben killed it on our structured walk today! This little guy is learning to slow down his brain, one of the ways we are doing that is by having him walk in a heel. It takes a lot of mind work for a dog to stay at a consistent pace and leave all the distractions behind. On our walk today we came across multiple dogs and people, but Ruben kept his focus on me and continued right on by like the rockstar he is!

Here’s another training post for your feed! I worked with Mr Ruben again this week and let’s just say it’s always a joy to see this spunky little guy! The goal for Ruben is to trust him to have off leash freedom and so far he’s shown AMAZING progress! We sat outside of his owners shop and watched all the traffic go by (cars, humans, dogs etc) and everytime there was something interesting he always redirected his focus back onto me! When you are the handler of a dog it’s important they know that you are most important in that time. Way to go Ruben!! Reach out to hear more about the services offered!

Mack’s pack officially has tik tok so give us a follow @Mackspack_dogtraining113! Today I got the privilege to meet Mr Ruben. We worked on Recall and calmness and he did an amazing job picking up what I was putting down. Rubens family wants him to be able to have off leash freedom but sometimes Ruben gets a little to excited/distracted. One of the main tools I use for recall and off leash training is my nifty 50ft long line and I think it’s safe to say he loved getting a taste of off leash freedom! Is your dog struggling with leash reactivity? This is my personal dog Bentley, he is a 1 year old German shepherd husky mix. A high drive, high energy level working dog who struggles with leash reactivity. In this video you see him on alert watching the other off leash dogs. It’s not that Bentley is aggressive and doesn’t like dogs it’s actually the complete opposite he LOVES dogs so much sometimes the excitement creates an explosion with him. This is raw footage of me using my tools and helping my dog work through his frustrations without using negative behaviors. Having a reactive dog can come with so many emotions but it’s important to remember it CAN get better with some work and bonding.

Pack walks are the best 🐶🐾
This is George and let’s just say he doesn’t feel the best about people touching his feet… it makes him uncomfortable, but his nails needed to be clipped. I wanted to share this clip because at the end you see him finally relax and let me clip his nails, he did this because as you see in the beginning of the video I took my time and worked him through the fear of me touching his feet. It’s very important you take your time and help work your dog through things they have a fear of otherwise that fear will never go away. Wednesday daycare group celebrating my birthday and Mr Tegs birthday a few days early!!! These guys have worked so hard on building friendships and new skills so they got rewarded with a puppy party and we all know what comes with a party…. PUP CUPS!!! This was also a great impulse challenge for some of the dogs as they can’t just go up and steal ice cream from another dog, but it’s safe to say they all did great and gave each other the space and respect others deserve 💗🐶 Thanks to the pack for another wonderful day of daycare!
Muzzle conditioning!! Miss Daisy will always be such a special dog to me, I started coming over to walk Daisy when she around 7 months old maybe a little older. She has always been around dogs but ever since she got older she has gained a little more fear with big packs of dogs. muzzles are a very useful tool, and it doesn’t mean your dog is “bad” if they have to wear one! Muzzle conditioning has helped Daisy get more freedom when in a big pack, and it also gives her something else to focus on instead of what she’s scared of. What a great day for training! after a while of playing at the dog park and getting the crazies out we sat here for a while and CALMLY watched all sorts of traffic go by. This can help you teach your dog to not be so overly excited or even scared of life around them. It’s always important to teach your dog to be calm and observe in these types of environments! Going into pet friendly stores bring so many different training opportunities! Sometimes I loose leash walk dogs in the store but what happens when there’s another dog or person coming down the row? I put them in a heel! It’s important for your dog to have a good heel command especially if you bring your dog out in public!
