Toby crossed that rainbow bridge, 15 years with the best ranch dog one could ever ask for

I still remember the day we got him and his brother, my mom and I were checking out the new library in Ramona and saw a flyer for border collies x lab pups

We picked the most confident forward, puppy, Toby, but just couldn’t leave his shy, sad, brother, Sheldon

It took us two weeks to name him, we saw Toby Keith in an interview on TV and he was just so chilled and laid back, it clicked that that was our Toby

Cookie is one of our livestock guardian dogs, she’s out all night and day keeping watch for coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions and more, but during the day when it gets especially hot she gets to come inside for a well deserved break ❤️

Fat Goat Squad has been earning their keep this week! I walk them to the back property in the evening and they’re clearing out the weeds

A big THANK YOU to 3 different people for the wonderful gifts we got this week!

A bag of goat salt/minerals, duck jerky(bag of carrots not pictured, they didn’t last long 😅) and fencing!

We’re not perfect, we’re trying, but people putting their trust in us, in our goal to help animals, restores a bit of hope in humanity for us

With spring came about 2-3 weeks of grazing and saving on hay, the animals didn’t even bother touching what we put out

but now it’s time to get a load of hay so we’re ready for summer! ☀️☀️☀️

I wish I could say the price for hay was hot, with blessed delivery, unload and stacked it’s $20/$21 per heavy bale 🥵

It takes a village! With a pet shop closing half it’s store they put left over merchandise up for grabs, we’re 45 minutes from town, but with some generous help from a wonderful friend, who also helps with donated blankets, she was able to get what was left!

She then held onto the items in which mom could pop by and pick up, I brought them down a 25 minute drive to Borrego Springs to a wonderful lady that isn’t a non-profit yet like us, but puts her heart and soul into 30+ exotic birds!

Whatever she doesn’t/can’t use will go to Best Friends in Utah whom she’s worked with before in taking in birds that aren’t “pet” adoptable anymore

Everything has a use and will go to use through all of us wanting to help animals, even if you think something small doesn’t matter, it does!

We’re always grateful for the donations and help, it’s always needed especially if we want to continue what we do, to anyone wanting to learn more about us or the Newman Bird House sanctuary in borrego springs, please feel free to reach out!

Snow Time Donkeys!

Norman kicked the donkeys out of their area, which was his in the first place, but decided he wanted it back during all the snow we had, luckily I had an alternative ready for them, just glad it all worked out

Noble Out!

Noble heard about the rain/snow storm coming to the mountains and he'd like to get the Hell outta Dodge!

Getting ready for the night DX it's not so much cold as it's the wind here that kicks your butt, my thick bois, Torchwick and Toby, are good, still would rather they have coats As you know we have a fund raiser, but to insure your money is going to our animals we have an amazon wishlist! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1GQ4LL0Y1QT11?ref_=wl_share Buttercup and Rune, ironically being the huskys and don't even feel the cold yet, are staying inside, princesses of the ranch So no matter what all the dogs will have coats by the time winter really makes it's presence, hopefully all waterproof, when it snows though we end up with 11 dogs in the house LOL
