This past week I attended the International Hoofcare Summit in Cincinnati. This event provided dozens of hours of lectures, classes, and discussions all geared toward improving our trade. We heard from Hall of Fame farriers, veterinarians, and many other talented men and women sharing their experiences and knowledge. To say it was a lot of information that started to fry my brain is an understatement. However, I am excited to come home with new ideas and products to explore! A great thing about this profession is there is always more to learn and always room to improve!

Special thanks to Shaun who stayed home to catch up on reschedules due to weather, took care of all the critters, and then picked me up in St Louis to meet up with my brother!

Here's a few things I personally do to help take care of my horses feet in the summer! I'm not perfect, but these have definitely helped me to be better!

Every horse gets fly boots especially if they have shoes. They really help prevent stomping which in turn prevents less cracks from starting and it puts less stress on the nails and I see fewer lost shoes.

I don't always groom my horse if I'm just doing groundwork so I have a hoof pick attached to my round pen. It helps me incorporate cleaning out there feet everytime I work with them.

Worked on some smaller ones today! Hopefully we got the donkeys feeling a little better! Thanks to the client for stepping in and getting them taken care of!

We've been busy this spring! Getting set up for some training and riding this year. Shaun and I figured out it had been 18 days since we'd worked a day under horses together. It was nice having my chauffer again 🛻😆

Hi, as some of you know Shaun and I have been living at my parents house since mid Nov due to renovations on our house. I want to thank everyone for their patience these last several months as I know I've been slow at responding, especially this last week as we've gotten moved back in!
We've been running around pretty crazy trying to keep all of our animals taken care but they're all home now. Safe to say the dogs are thrilled to be home and not have to share their dog beds anymore 😊

First pair of aluminums I've ever made at the horse and first pair of shoes made since I dislocated my shoulder. It was fun to build some shoes again!

This old guy graduated from wedged shoes with frog support to just frog support and he walked away super comfortable!

It's the little things that makes a horseshoer happy! Rode down a gravel road directly before loading her up into the trailer and she left this perfect shoe mark on the mat. Hope everyone has a great weekend and stays safe with their horses!

Usually Miss Betty leaves as soon as the halter is off, but I think she was enjoying her grooming 😊 she is absolutely my favorite donkey, but you can't tell the others!
