Training partner Charlie is lucking out again this month, he gets to tag along for some hikes with the girls! 🌲🐾

It’s not every day Charlie gets tagged in as a demo dog!

Now that Hank has spent a few weeks with us, we are working on whittling down his threshold in regard to being around other dogs on leash!

Dogs can be selectively reactive, so with Charlie acting as a predictable demo dog, Hank was able to practice:

* Walking behind another dog
* Walking in front of another dog
* Hopping up on an object while another dog passes
* Head on passes
* Watching a high activity such as another dog running/playing fetch/jumping etc.

Orientation, behavior, and the look of the (trigger) dog can all influence whether your dog has a reactive episode or not. Using Charlie for practice helped us identify any weak spots!

Welcome Ginny to Rhody Paws!

If you’re wondering how her face is so cute, she is a black lab/Saint Bernard mix! In addition to being so cute, Ginny can have some chaotic energy at times but LOVES the training game! After just 3 lessons, she has already became proficient in her recall, “leave-it” & “drop it”!

We are so proud of this Ginny genius! 💫🐾

Welcome Finley to Rhody Paws!

Finley is a classic lab in that he’s goofy, friendly (to a fault) and wants to put everything in his mouth! This can make for difficult walks for his owners so we are teaching them how to work together so everyone can enjoy the outings!

Welcome Scout to Rhody Paws! Scout is an 11-week-old lab who needs help learning all of the basics! His owners want him to be a go anywhere, do anything pup so they are getting right into training!

We love how motivated Scout is, but after all of that work he definitely needed a snooze!💤

Welcome Bandit to Rhody Paws! Bandit is a 1-year-old cattle dog/aussie mix who needs some help learning the basics!

Most importantly, we are helping him walk nicely on leash when he is faced with distractions. Bandit loves other dogs and can get a little too excited when he sees them during a walk.

We can’t wait to see you progress Bandit! 🐾🤩

What did your dog do while you were at work today?

Rocky took a hike! We are so excited to welcome Rocky back to Rhody Paws. After doing several training programs with us, his owners decided to take advantage of our field trips to ensure he gets his needs met while they’re away! 🌲🐾

Welcome Lexi to Rhody Paws!🐾

Lexi has got to be the BIGGEST pity we have ever seen! Her owner wants to work on her self-control so she can feel more confident having Lexi on leash and around guests. 😎

Lexi can also become very shy when it comes to nail clipping, so her program will include some cooperative care techniques so we can file those talons down! 🦅💅

Need to leave the dog at home? Tell them to take a hike! 🐾🌲

We are now offering field trips to past & current clients! This is a great way for the pups to get some exercise and decompress without sacrificing any training progress!

During our outing, we focus on good manners, automatic check-ins & recall training. Roxy enjoyed her first hike today and returned home a pooped pooch! 💩🐶

Normal, healthy dog play is not 25-30 dogs playing for 8 hours straight. Normal, healthy dog play is a small group of dogs periodically playing with one another and taking breaks when they get tired. The bigger the group, and the longer they play, the more overstimulated they get which can lead to fights and increased behavior issues. Make sure when you're picking out a daycare or play center for your dogs, the groups are small and they get adequate breaks to decompress!
