Shiny Sheath Equine, LLC I clean their sheath and de-bean so you don't have to! Lathrop, Missouri and surrounding areas. Hi! My name is Katie and I am a life-long horse lover.

I am a married mother of 3 wonderful and sassy girls! My husband and I currently own two geldings, Andy and Jake, and that is how I got into Sheath Cleaning. Several months after owning our boys I realized that Andy was in bad shape 'down there' and I did extensive research and training to eliminate sm**ma from his sheath and beans from his urethra. I had the Veterinarian come out to double check

but there wasn't much for them to do since I had cleaned them so thoroughly. Since then, I have cleaned multiple sheaths and removed bean after bean after bean from the urethra and removed sm**ma in order to increase comfort for the horses and allow them to urinate without obstruction. The recommended time between sheath cleanings is 6-12 months, depending on the horse. My 20 year old, Jake, could easily go a year without a cleaning, but my 24 year old, Andy, needs them roughly every 4 months. I would love to earn your business, get to know your horse and help them to live a more comfortable life! I have been a stay-at-home mom for over 6 years, which I LOVE, but I have also been searching for something to call my own outside of the home and weirdly enough, Sheath Cleaning is it! It's kind of like the Dr. Pimple Popper of horses!

Today I got to clean Buddy the donkey 😍 He was so sweet but did not enjoy his bean removal. His bean was much softer than a horse bean which made it more difficult to remove from around his urethra... but I got it! 🫏

I pulled these beans out of General Lee today in an impromptu check at horse lessons. I was just checking in on his sm**ma but he dropped so I was able to check around his urethra and pulled these giants out! 😳 Poor guy! We'll get him fully cleaned and all of that sm**ma out after this but he's going to be feeling so much better without those beans when he pees!

Got these beans 🫘 out of the tip of a horse 🍆 today. It's only been 6 months since his last cleaning and he's been growing increasingly uncomfortable lately and not dropping to urinate. This was just a quick once over to get him more comfortable until I can get back in a couple of days for a full cleaning.
Hopefully he's back in full force soon!

Check out these beans I got out of Rebel (left) today! My client knew Tex (right) needed a cleaning and I told her I'd check Rebel while I was there... and my oh my did those boys need a good cleaning! Sm**ma was falling out left and right and poor Rebel had these big beans impeding his urethra.

They've both got to be feeling SO much better!

I know this is a weird 'job' to have... but I love it! 🐴 🫶🏻

I come to you with everything necessary (even clean, warm water). No sedation. Just a clean sheath and happy gelding!

It has been quite a labor of love getting Andy's abscess healed up. Thankfully he's at a place where he trusts me to care for him the way he needs 🤗

If your gelding needs some TLC of the sheath variety and hasn't had his sheath cleaned in 12+ months, he needs it!

I give free consultations and would love to get your boy comfortable again!

Our geldings had their yearly vaccinations and floatings today. Jake (20) was in pretty good shape but Andy's teeth (24) were rough. Andy is always the problem child 🫣

One specific reason we went into the Vet for this was that Andy had a spot on his p£n!$ that needed looked at. At that point, the Vet didn't see anything concerning.

However, once we got the boys home and Andy dropped, I figured I would take another look just to be safe because I •KNEW• there was something there. I took some pictures and sent them into the Vet and they told me they hadn't actually seen that spot this afternoon when we were in.

Thankfully, it's not Cancer and most likely it's just a wart which warrants more frequent cleanings... No problem! I can handle that! 😅

This is just a friendly PSA to advocate for your horse (or any animal) when you know something is off. In no way am I upset with the Vet... I just happen to know Andy's sheath better 😂

I'm so grateful we got this squared away, though.

If your gelding hasn't had a sheath cleaning in a while or you have any concerns, please contact me! I come to you and offer discounts for 3+
geldings.

Y'all, beans are no joke! Geldings don't use their equipment the same way stallions do, so sm**ma builds up and can result in very painful beans 😳
If you haven't had your gelding cleaned in a while or just don't want to have to haul into the vet, give me a call! ☎️

What problems can a bean cause for your horse?
🐎 Reluctance to drink.
🐎 Inability to urinate.
🐎 Can mimic colic symptoms.
These are just a handful of problems caused by beans, all of which can lead to further issues. Do remember these can also be caused by many other ailments in a horse so don’t pin all your hopes on it being a bean. BUT we have seen many many clients spend eye watering amounts of money on vet bills to find out the horse just had a bean.
This horse was reluctantly checked a few months ago by the vet & the owner was told that nothing was a miss and to leave it alone in future. Incredibly this rather large bean was completely missed and had it been left another year or two, who knows the issues it would have caused in the horse.

This is crazy! (Notice I could've used a lot of different words that would've been much funnier but far more crass and I didn't! 😅)

Seriously, though, I know a lot of people think Sheath Cleaning is unnecessary but can you imagine trying to go to the bathroom with those things around your urethra?!

The people I've cleaned sheaths for have expressed to me how surprised they were at the pep in the step of their horses after I cleaned them!

Amigo even dropped during his normal grooming the day after I cleaned him, which his owner said he rarely ever does. ❤️

I love helping these boys feel better!

🐴 Amigo was a trooper today!

It had been over 2 years since his last cleaning and overall, he was in great shape.

He did have several beans and I was able to remove them all. 💪🏻 He's going to be so much more comfortable now! 😍

Thank you, Kaitlyn, for trusting me with your sweet boy!

General Lee used to be a Civil War Reenactment horse but now he works at the barn my girls go to for lessons! It is unknown how long ago his last sheath cleaning was, but it seems to have been multiple YEARS.

This poor guy had multiple beans which caused his urethral process to protrude and had to have been so uncomfortable! Fortunately for him, I was able to remove all of his beans and all of the 'scabby' sm**ma in his sheath.

We're hoping Lee has nothing but comfortable days ahead!

I would love to earn your business, get to know your horse(s) and help them to live a more comfortable life!

Most people get their horses sheaths cleaned (if at all) by a Veterinarian during a Floating, which generally involves sedation.

What I provide is a service that comes to you (but you're welcome to come to me), without sedation and you're welcome to be present the entire time. Some horses love it and some don't; I can't guarantee that your horse will allow me to clean their sheath, and in that event, I would recommend you contact your veterinarian for your next cleaning on that particular horse.

I do not diagnose any cancers, etc., however, if I see something out of the ordinary, I may refer you to your local veterinarian.

If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]

These are our boys, Jake and Andy!

Jake is younger but he is Andy's fierce protector... even though he tries to make it seem like he's the alpha. He's pretty squirrely and there's a good reason he was known as 'Goober' before coming to us!

Andy is the real alpha but is as sweet and calm as can be. If he wants something Jake has, all he has to do is walk up to Jake and he'll immediately move out of the way to give Andy what he wants.

We love these boys!
