Dora is still patiently waiting for someone to notice her... she would love to come to Colorado and enjoy our cooler climate if we have a foster/potential adopter ready to welcome her. Now approx 9-10 mos old and 45 lbs, this Antaloian Shepherd mix has been exposed to many other animals, dogs (big and small), cats, horses, pigs, sheep and Dora does well with all critters! Dora is shy with new people, but once she bonds she is very loyal. She comes to the house when she is called, enjoys being brushed and doesn't even mind having her nails trimmed. If you know and love the breed and are interested in speaking with Dora's foster mom, please apply at mountainpetrescue.org

Robert Morley's 1918 painting "Will He Come Back?" captures the poignant uncertainty and longing experienced during times of separation. This evocative piece, housed at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, was created during the tumultuous period of World War I, adding a layer of historical significance to its emotional depth.

The painting depicts a loyal dog gazing out into the distance, waiting for its master's return. This image powerfully conveys themes of hope, loyalty, and the painful waiting that many families endured during the war. The dog's earnest expression and the quiet, somber setting highlight the deep bond between humans and their pets, as well as the broader human experiences of love and loss.

Morley's detailed and realistic style brings the scene to life, emphasizing the dog's fur texture and the subtle play of light and shadow. The composition draws the viewer's eye towards the horizon, mirroring the dog's watchful anticipation.

"Will He Come Back?" resonates with viewers not only as a beautiful work of art but also as a historical document reflecting the collective anxiety and hope of its time. It remains a touching reminder of the emotional toll of war and the enduring power of companionship.

A testimonial from a NonFB client:

Thank you for the tremendous care you took while house/dog sitting. The dog's care was wonderful (you even taught him some new manners) and the house was left in great shape. Hopefully we can work something out in the future. You are highly recommended by Jeannie, Rocket and me.
Thanks again

❤️ opossums!

Attention, everyone! Here's an important public service announcement: Rattlesnakes are already active this season. If you happen to see any opossums in your area, please let them be and even encourage their presence. Opossums are immune to venom from snakes like rattlesnakes and can quickly eliminate them. Your cooperation is appreciated—stay safe out there! Thank you!

Good Day, Friends,

A big thank you to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officers who rescued a doe from a rat trap in Evergreen earlier this month. She had been spotted for several days with the device in her mouth.

It's a double reminder for all of us: never feed wildlife, and before you resort to setting a trap, consider that there are many more humane ways to divert unwelcome guests from taking up residence on your property or in your home.
