Here’s your daily reminder that socializing your unvaccinated puppies is possible! When I brought Wagyu home at 14 weeks old, I took her everywhere using a dog stroller and a thick blanket. Despite having only some vaccinations , she met fully vaccinated adult dogs I knew personally. This proactive approach aimed to prevent reactivity, fears, and over-arousal issues. Now, at five months old, Wagyu is well-adjusted, allowing us to focus on obedience and other puppy behaviors. You can confidently introduce your puppy to new environments; just prioritize safety. #PuppyTrainingTips #DogObedience #CanineBehavior #PawsitiveTraining #TrainingPuppies #GoodDogTraining #PuppyBehavior #TrainWithLove #DogTraining101 #PositiveReinforcement #PuppyManners #ClickerTraining #PupLifeSkills #SmartPupTraining #TrainingGoals #K9Learning #BondWithYourDog #PositivePuppyTraining #DogTrainingJourney #TrainTogetherWinTogether #dogtrainingboston
Even I get guilted in to thinking I need a 1k impact dog crate or spend $200+ to fed all 3 dogs a raw diet to be a good owner. However that is far from the truth! My dogs are happy and health. They are fulfilled and well trained. And it’s okay if I don’t add those things into my life or theirs. I promise you that you are doing the best for your dog.
If we break this video down, Mellie is walking and spots a dog in the distance and starts to fixate.
As it is her first time walking with her, I want to make sure I limit the amount of time she is looking at a dog. In most cases I would use food , BUT I ran out.
So what did I do instead ? I became interesting’! I used a positive interrupter ( kisses noises) and then I ask for a touch ( which I found out that Mellie really enjoys doing ) and I followed it up with a lot of verbal praise and some pets.
Mellie is not a dog I trained but we now have a good start to a great relationship with the help of food and without !
Have you ever run out of food on walks ?

I’ll say it time and time again every dog and every dog guardian should learn an active management system.
Frankie is a very nervous and insecure dog, especially around large trucks. Her guardians were greatly struggling with her on leash. Frankie would drag them home because home is her safe space.
Now with an active management system in place, Frankie can walk homely nicely on leash, she checks in with her owners, and enjoys going on her walks now.
I’m proud of what this team has accomplished, her guardians have put in so much work and it’s all paid off!

Lily was so excited to see me she just had to do the zoomies in the mud !!!
Instead of having your dog pull you down the street. You should build engagement and a heel command.
Don’t get me wrong. I love a good decompression walk , my dogs and I love hiking, I love giving my dogs sniffari walk.
However , dogs do like having a structure and boundaries and implementing a heel command and building engagement when you walk will make your walks a lot more enjoyable.
Do you give your dogs both structured walks and decompression walks ? Comment down below!

Toy and small breed dogs ALWAYS get overlooked when it comes to training!
However at the end of the day small dogs are in fact still DOGS. They can and will learn just the same as a large breed dog.
Don’t forgo basic obedience leash skills and recall because it’s too “hard “ with a small breed dog.
In the end your dog will be happy, healthier and have more freedom !

Proof is in the pudding.
Olaf is a great example of a dog who is taught how to socialize.
-He checks in with his handler.
-He became disengaged when too many people walked by .
-He stuck with me (handler focus) when they talked to him.
-He stuck with me and did not greet the humans walking by.
Helping your dog build neutrality towards everything and everyone is essentially 🔑.
Is your dog socialized ?

✅Allowing your dog to explore their environment through their nose will mentally will tire out your dog faster than going on a run. Try ditching your dog’s food bowl and scattering their dinner in the grass !
✅For nervous or even over-excited dogs, being able to sniff and use their nose can help your dog relax and decompress.
✅Dogs have amazing olfactory systems (sense of smell). Dogs use their sense of smell to learn about the world around them !
✅Just like how dogs bark, play and dig, sniffing is a key part about being a dog. Letting your pup sniff is giving them more freedom to explore the world.
Pepper is demonstrating how fun our Solo Walks can be.
Solo Walks are a great way to help dogs decompress, explore their surroundings and a it’s a excellent service for dogs that have behavioral issues.
Frankie 🖤🖤
Frankie is enrolled in private lessons to help her overcome her fear of large trucks and vans. Along with working on the foundations of off leash recall !
Frankie’s owners are already doing fantastic with her training and have implemented an active management system!
Loose leashing walking is one of my favorite thing to help clients learn. Here’s Banshee , Mingus , Frankie , Corn Flake and Buddy loose leash walking !
Gorgeous, gorgeous girls can recall back to you mid run.
Here’s Banshee to demonstrate.
There are water, birds, and other environmental factors in this scenario. Banshee also knows that there is a possibility of running around. All of these factors risk her blowing off my recall and not coming back.
She immediately comes back when called, even though she is chasing birds. If your dog can't ignore distractions and recall back to you, they should not be off-leash.

*we no longer training tools for client dogs.
Exposure and Socialization
In this video, Banshee, the dog, is witnessing fireworks for the first time. She is calm, relaxed, and lying down.
I have never exposed her to fireworks before this. So you might be wondering how she is so well-behaved. We have worked heavily on socialization around loud noises, screaming, clapping, and bright lights.
Exposure and socialization are essential to having a well-rounded dog. Here are some tips to help socialize your pup!
1. Exposing your dog or puppy to new sights, sounds, smells, and textures.
2, You don't allow your pup to greet every dog or person. Just let them watch.
3. You use high-value rewards.
4. Utilizing puppy classes, group training classes, and sitting outside dog parks.
