🦄 Rubys Final Dash 🦄

6 yo Gray AQHA mare. 14.2 HH. Barefoot, loads, ties, easy going around the barn. She is started on the pattern and has been entered a few times. She has worked cows, Has been heeled on and she was started with break away, loves trail riding. Isn’t spooky or watchy. She is youth suitable for an intermediate rider. This is a super nice one who is current on everything!!

Owner is downsizing and needs her moved.

💖 Dixie 💖
5 year old APHA mare. Green broke and needs a refresher. Stands right at 14.2. She is super easy to handle. Loads right in trailer and hauls anywhere. Stand ties, Cross ties, easy to groom, great with farrier and has front shoes. she is super sweet in your pocket, loves attention.

She’s real catty & quick on her feet. She moves very smoothly. She is looking for her next performance or pleasure home. She could go in any direction. She will continue being worked while with me.

Owner doesn’t have time to finish her out the only reason for the sale. This is a super nice flashy one who hasn’t had her legs ran off ☝️

This is what makes my job special everyday are the people who truly recognize your talent and all your hard work. I don’t do this to make a buck most people know horse trainers aren’t rich lol 😂 Horses aren’t cheap!! I do this because I love what I do everyday, I was born growing up with horses and horsemen in my family…

is it hard?!? Yes!!! It’s not for everyone, I can tell you that… and you will NOT please everyone I can also tell you that.

But, at the end of the day finding the perfect match for these horses and owners are what makes my day❤️❤️❤️ when they all recognize what you do for them is what makes it all worth while.

This is a good read and I cannot PREACH this enough!!!!!

30 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH! 60 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH! A well rounded, well trained horse takes years to develop and they are worth the investment. Good training isn't quick. Good trainers aren't cheap. When you take an un-started horse to a trainer, 30 days is not enough. The bare minimum should be 90 days. Longer is better. Yes, it costs money. Horses cost money and there is no way around it. Make sure you choose a trainer who is honest about this and isn't just trying to keep your horse longer for the money. Sit in on sessions once your horse is in training and ask questions. 30 days is not enough for the majority of horse owners to step in and continue with the success of the horse. You’re setting the horse up for failure. If you’ve taken the horse out of training too soon, not only will it affect the horse but you're also setting blame for the “bad trainer” that didn't get your horse broke and kid safe in 30 days.

In most cases, what your horse and trainer can do together after 30, 60 and 90 days are not what you and your horse can do together. This means you need to be engaged in the process with your horse, in lessons and seeking to learn yourself if you want to recreate the education your horse is receiving.

The expectation of a 90 day horse is that they now have a solid foundation of the BASICS. What those basics are will vary from horse to horse, age and trainer, but understand that you do not have a finished horse by any stretch of the imagination... and you don't usually have a beginner safe horse. Having the expectation that this is possible, is unfair to the horse. Remember, your horse won't necessarily retain ALL of what they have learned when they go back home unless you continue to work with your horse consistently and with a similar set of skills. Set realistic goals and put the time in that your horse needs and deserves, it's worth the investment!

Just a few words of encouragement!

This morning I got out of bed at 4:30 after only being in bed for five hours. Last night I wanted to talk myself out of it, I wanted to give myself some grace. But I need to be somewhere later today so if I sleep longer I don’t get all the horses on my list ridden today.

Here’s the thing, the only person you hurt when your allow yourself to slouch is your self. No one else can do the things for you and most people will understand if you stay in bed a little longer, they don’t expect these things out of you.

Expect them out of yourself. I’m not saying it’ll make you better tomorrow but if you keep doing the work and you keep striving to be better and setting goals, your time will come. Maybe not as fast as you want. But I promise you they’ll never come if you don’t do the hard things, the things that are uncomfortable.

No two people have the same goal. My life and your life don’t look the same so I can’t tell you how to live yours. But everyone has some thing they’re passionate about so whatever that is, go and get it! No excuses!

I took this mare in for 90 days. She was broke once in her lifetime and after being a broodmare the owners wanted to enjoy taking her on trails. After completing 90 days Thea was off leading the trails and riding nicely in the arena.

“Your mind has to be stronger than your feelings”

How can you apply that to your barrel racing and life in general?

When you have made bad decisions as a rider or trainer, (every-time you ride, you are training, good or bad.) where emotions involved?

>>>Training is consistency and repetition. That’s it.

When you want to be mad at your horse, make sure you’re taking a hard look in the mirror. 👀 Make it your goal to take emotion and frustration out of your riding.

The best feeling is knowing that all the time you put into a horse that you have owned since a yearling and broke, trained on the barrels and when they win big for you, your heart is just full. ❤️
