Sending congrats to Gracie and her owner, Tiffany, on being named the 2023 Carolina Marsh Tacky Association Horse of the Year!

Gracie also became mama to an adorable c**t recently. It’s great to see a new addition to the population of our state’s native breed!

Marsh Tacky horses are galloping into town this weekend for their first appearance at . While we'll always love watching the DockDogs make their big splash, we're also excited to visit the rare breed of horse with a special connection to South Carolina at Brittlebank Park. The horses were brought to the Carolinas 400 years ago by Spanish explorers and often worked on Lowcountry farms. Today, there are only about 500 Marsh Tackies left. The , which works to preserve the breed, is bringing some of the animals to the park to help educate people about their history and the group’s conservation efforts.
