Orphaned Kittens
Update: These babies have all passed away. Kittens are extremely fragile. They cannot get cold. They need to eat every 1-2 hours around the clock. Once a newborn gets cold it’s hard to bring them back. Their bodies begin to shut down. Kittens born outside this time of year do not have a high survival rate even when they have a mother. Mother’s have a hard time keeping them warm in cold temperatures. These babies were outside too long before they were found.
5 orphaned kittens found in a yard next to their deceased mother. She passed away during delivery. Sounds like North Bend needs to start a TNR program. 8 cats spayed and neutered today and the day ends with an emergency rescue. Every day is progress.

Flurrie came to us with urinary issues. An X-ray today showed he has a kidney stone that requires surgery. Another $800. Our funds are depleted. We have had three $1000 cats recently, Ophelia the leukemia cat, Bruce the FIP cat and now Flurrie. Ophelia and Bruce did not survive. Yes, that is correct $2000 spent and the cats could not be saved. Ophelia was an owned cat we helped spay. Bruce was a stray. Flurrie was surrendered to us to give him a better life. He has that life now, but needs this surgery. We hate to continually ask for help. If you can spare a few dollars Flurrie could certainly use it.

📣📣 CALL TO ACTION 📣📣 Found in Lyons, Nebraska. This is what can happen to female cats that become pregnant at 4-6 months of age and again when the babies are weened. Cats can have up to 5 heat cycles in one season. We typically see cats having 3-4 litters per year in the Midwest. This poor animal gave everything she had to feed her young with no medical care and poor nutrition at her own expense. She is weak, but her spirit is strong. We have no idea where her last litter might be.
A lack of spaying and neutering causes a tremendous amount of needless suffering. Let’s do better!!! Voice your opinion to your local and state legislator. Tell them about the work we are doing and the first spay / neuter ordinance in the state to pass in Lyons, NE!!

We need your help once again! Sweet Casey needs a forever home 🏡 ❤️ She was found May 25th trying to get in the Casey’s gas station in Arlington, Nebraska. This loving little girl is 6 months old at least but weighs not quite 5 pounds! She a tiny girl! 🌷🐈 She came to us with severe internal and external parasites. Yuck! She would not have survived unless treated immediately. 🥰 Casey is curious and playful. She loves attention. We know there is a family or individual that needs Casey as much as she needs them!! Please share!!! Let’s get this girl home!! 😊🌷🐈⬛ She ❤️ other cats by the way!
In celebration of Pet Appreciation Week, here is Turner as he helps us all feel good and appreciate the little things life has to offer! Enjoy! Side note: his sister Tina tries to distract him from his moment of pure bliss!
This girl is an angle! Casey is affectionate, playful and spunky. She can’t get enough attention! She was found tying to get inside the Casey’s gas station in Arlington, NE. 6 months old and weighed 4lbs. She’s healthy and ready for a new home.
The number of kittens being found born outside is outrageous! We are drowning. It’s not right. Nebraska Humane Society is suppose to be the leading authority on animal control in Nebraska. Why are these animals suffering across Nebraska? Blame the people who don’t spay and neuter or enact programs and legislation across the state that will stop cat reproduction? Nebraska needs a leader.
Trapping 6 week old kittens today so they can be tamed and adopted to inside homes. There are 4 kittens. Can you find all 4?
Number one rule of TNR is never leave the moms and dads behind. There is a trap set for mom also.
