Do not let this mares age fool you- she has no idea what year she was born. She can and will outwork any horse. Shes solid, automatic and just needs you to stay out of her way. There’s a long list of people who know her and will vouch for her. Flicka has always had more beginner type barrel racers on her and she will pack them into the top of the 2D with ease. I have no doubt she’d clock in the 1D with a more capable jockey. She has an effortless long stride and turns HARD. She gets on the muscle at the gate and she’s on the muscle to warm up. Riding around at home she’s pretty easy but still all business. Walk, trot, lope, stop, back, move off leg, etc. She will let you trot and lope the pattern at home. She’s very easy going on the ground. Flicka stands tied, good for farrier, loads/hauls well, eats and drinks on the road, not mareish. Pony her or pony off of her. Doesn’t run on any drugs. She has very light maintenance and would be happy to discuss with those interested.

Leo is ready for someone to go on with him in 2024. Started slow and correct in every aspect of his life. He was put on the pattern by Kate Quast and is currently cruising a very nice set. He has been hauled to races, ridden in warm up pens, exhibitioned, and entered 1x. He wants to work and deserves someone who has the time to keep taking him. Uncomplicated to ride around and nicely broke. No vices. Sound with no maintenance or previous injuries. Buddy is a kind horse. He wants to be your “buddy” and is the first to meet you at the gate. He is not fancy broke by any means but he’s the horse you trust with newer riders on when they come for a visit. Solid walk/jog/stop. His lope is comfortable but he needs a little help from the rider to keep him balanced. He is very confident trail riding out with a friend. Riding out alone he doesn’t really want to track in a straight line off the property and will look a little more. Buddy has had a confident kid ride him in the recent past and done very well. They played on barrels/poles/gymkhana type events and he enjoyed himself. He’s great with other horses and is bottom of the totem pole. Stands tied, loads/hauls well, good to shoe, easy keeper, and just a good boy to be around. Buddy is sound with massive bone and foot- wears a size 2 all around. Would love to see him go to a family that needs a spare horse, leadline horse for their kid, or someone who enjoys going out on group trail rides.

What Pl***oy lacks in size he makes up for everywhere else. I don’t know where to start- he’s the coolest little horse. He was a cutting reject and is BROKE in every sense of the word. Finger tip neck rein, nice stop, turn around, soft to leg, catches both leads automatically, etc. Smooth walk, jog, and lope. Was told he’d get cold backed when younger if he had sat for awhile-never had him do anything in the last few years. He’s been very reliable and has been ridden by a youth. Has a friendly but respectful personality and smiles on command. He’s a finished 2-3D horse and has seen all the sights. Handles all set ups, pattern sizes, and ground. Super honest style. He is patterned on poles but hasn’t been entered a ton. Ropes both ends and is safe for a lower number roper. Previous owner used him in the breakaway for college. Warms up like a gentleman and gets very lightly on the muscle at the gate. He’s been ridden outside the arena a ton- city roads, desert, river rides, he’s done it. Will ride bridlesss and pony any horse not matter how unruly. He is 100% handy youth suitable. Easy keeper, stands tied, bathes, clips, hauls well, good to shoe, eats and drinks on the road. Was told he’s highbrow cat bred but never registered because they gelded him. Aged by dentist as 14 years old and it’s consistent with his history. Pl***oy is only available because his owner has outgrown him and knows he needs to go help someone else.

4 Year Old 15.1H AQHA Gelding

Louie is the easiest going 4 year old I’ve come across in a long time. You would never guess he came off the track and is a race winner. By Heza Fast Rogue (Heza Fast Man x Mr Jess Perry) who ran out over $300,000 with a 101si; progeny earnings exceeding 1.2 million on the track and has had offspring successful in the barrel pen. Out of a money earning Game Patriot x Streakin La Jolla mare. Louie retired from the track sound in 2022 and has spent the last year going from race horse broke to nicely broke. Very floaty trot and slow lope, nice stop/back, moves off legs, and will ride in collection or on a loose rein. He has never offered to buck/bolt/rear and he’s inherently a tick on the lazy side if allowed. Gone with to a few races and rode in the warm up pen well. Louie has hauled across country and handled it like a seasoned veteran. Stalls over night, eats/drinks on the road, stands tied at the trailer quietly. Great to shoe and turns out with other horses no problems. He is ready to start on the pattern your way. Could be finished by a youth under adult supervision. No previous injuries, clean legged, no maintenance.

I get a lot of messages from parents asking if horses will suit their kids. “I want something finished, 5-10 years old they can grow with.” It is incredibly hard to find a finished 1D-2D horse that will slow down and be patient enough for a kid or new rider to grow with. Are they out there? Yes. But they’re likely over budget and they should be. Heck, if you’re new to running barrels, adult or child, a 3D horse is going to feel like too much horse most of the time. A 3D horse is a single second off the fast time- that’s about 5 strides per run. Count to 1, set a timer start it and stop it at 1 second. it is way less likely for a kid to get hurt on mess up an older finished horse. There is so much value in that. Yet, over 12 years old seems ancient to some. Work with a trainer, show them videos of horses you’re looking at, bring them with to try horses. Yes, your kid will outgrow the horse in a couple years and they’ll have to step up to a new horse. The bonus in that is they’ll be ready to step up.
This is not to make anyone feel bad about what they’re wanting, strictly to educate. I want to see others succeed and have fun on their horses. I want kids to want to step up and not leave the sport because they have a horse who’d suit someone else better.

7 Year Old 15.3H AQHA Gelding

Boozer is naturally talented and deserves to be made someone #1 priority. He had a later start in life as a 4 year old but has always taken everything in stride. He has not had his legs run off and with the limited runs he’s had he’s placed in the 2-3D consistently and snuck into the 1D a time or two. Has ran a 17.5 on a full standard. Been ran at a couple pro rodeos and handled being in the chaos well. He does get on the muscle in the warm up pen and overall can be a strong horse. Does not have any gate issues but he’s ready to go as soon you send him. Been hauled to overnight races and handles himself like a gentleman. You level up to him. At home he’s the easy going gelding everyone looks for. Super comfortable- drop your hand and lope all day on him. Gets along with everyone, quiet to ride around, will trail ride alone or with others. Stands tied, hauls well, good to shoe, etc. No vices. Current owner thought she was ready for a horse like him and realized she’s just not ready yet.
Sound with no maintenance. Current radiographs of naviculars, hocks, stifles, and back. Toes in slightly other than that nothing notable.

5 Year Old 15.2H AQHA Mare

I’m going to start out by saying Malibu had her stifles scoped 11/3/22. She was rehabbed and brought back into work down to the letter of the vets recommendation. October 2023 she was gone over again and flexed beautifully. She had her stifles pro strided at this time. Happy to send vet report, surgery report, rads/photos from surgery to anyone seriously interested. Vet checks are always welcome, also.

Malibu has always had the best horseman in her corner. Bred and raised by T4 Quarter Horses (Cowan Brothers, llc). By John Fame (DTF x Lanes Leinster) who has produced many pro/1d barrel horses and PRCA rope horses. Out of PC Cajun Ambrosia (Boon Dox John x Sun Frost. The dams side has produced WPRA money earners. She was started correctly and put on the pattern by the best. This mare is very easy to be around on the ground and under saddle. Owners had intentions of her making a futurity horse. She was hauled to time onlies and started stepping off the backside to the left. As stated above, she then had her stifles scoped, rehabbed/brought back into work through summer and rechecked in October. Her owner wants to focus on the up and comers, and her open horse. Malibu is being listed as a project on the pattern. She stands tied, hauls well, good for farrier, and has a very in your pocket personality. Easy keeper and no vices. She needs to gain confidence back on the pattern and a patient hand. She’ll be a stellar head horse and broodmare down the road.

Sprite is the pretty all-around prospect everyone is looking for. She’s easy to be around, kind, and just wants to do right by her rider. Had 15 rides as a 3 year old and then was turned out for a year to grow. Brought back late her 4 year old year and never missed a beat. She has a great start to go any direction. Rides around collected, catches both leads automatically, moves off leg, and has a big stop. She has not offered to buck/bolt/rear ever. This mare just wants to please.
Sprite has tracked/roped the heelomatic on the head side and heeled the donkey a handful of times. Been hauler with to ropings/barrel races, and ridden in warm up pens. She takes it all in stride.
She been lightly started on the barrel pattern and will lope a set. Sprite rides off property/trail rides well with a buddy. Will ride out alone- just gets her confidence from her rider. She stands tied, stands to be saddled, good to shoe, and loads/hauls well. Not mareish at all and no previous injuries/soundness issues. Sprite would be great for a youth to bring along under adult supervision. This mare just loves being someone’s #1 and deserves to be!

Harley is as talented as she is pretty. I’m going to start off by saying this mare can be watchy and does better with someone who ignores it. She is a very honest switch ender and started in the breakaway. Her current owners have had her for a little over a year and have been using her in the breakaway at high school rodeos. I believe she could be a very talented breakaway/calf horse with work but her rider needs something finished to learn on and Harley is not there yet. Over the summer Harley spent a few months with a reining trainer in Montana. She went to a couple shows and won a novice reining class. I have twiddled on the barrels with her the last couple weeks and this mare is just a natural. She has a ton of rate and just uses herself correctly with not a lot of help. She rides out of the arena well and is as sure footed as a horse can be. Pony her or pony off of her. Stalls next to, ties next to, and hauls next to other horses like a gelding. Super easy keeper and good to shoe. Sound with no previous maintenance. Again, she can be watchy-you act scared around her it makes it worse if you ignore it lessens.

Eli has the coolest set of papers on an appaloosa you’ll ever see. By The Royal Jester (Royal Quick Dash x Easy Jet mare) who produced money earners on the track and out of a Raise a Secret x Murr The Blurr mare. Eli is nicely broke and easy to be around. Catches both leads, moves off leg, rides collected, and has a lead change. He has never offered anything funny but appreciates a quiet, confident rider. He rides well outside the arena no matter the scenery; desert, farm fields, neighborhoods, he’s just happy to go for a ride out. Eli has a pretty solid, push style pattern but he still needs seasoned. Veterinarian owned so he’s been back burnered no fault of his own. Handles warm up pens well, does well at the trailer with a buddy- he will walk around when alone. He stands for farrier, loads/hauls well, and gets along with other horses. Sound with no maintenance.

22 Year Old 15H AQHA Mare

Jojo needs a final home and she deserves it. Ive been able to confirm pre 2012 she was handled/ridden by a 9 year old under supervision. From 2012-2022 she supposedly was ranched on, trail ridden, and had a couple foals. Her current owner got her as a bit of a neglect case earlier this year and since owning her she has been brought UTD on vaccinations, worming, farrier, and dental. She is missing 1 tooth and supplemented with soaked pellets along with her hay. She is gaining weight back nicely- in my opinion could still use another 50-100 #. We have ridden her 3x and she’s been very kind. Saddled and walked off like she hadn’t been sitting for years. She was ridden through a neighborhood, out on rocky trails, and walk/jog in the arena. She doesn’t have a super fancy handle but she knows the basics. My only complaint is she’s rather jog than walk sometimes. She stands tied, loves being groomed, loads well but likes to turn around instead of backing out, good for farrier, bathes, and clips. Not allowing test rides as she is a being listed as a project. Anyone is welcome to come meet her, hangout with her in the round pen, etc. I would love to see her go to someone who will give her the attention she’s been lacking the last few years.

3 Year Old 15.2H AQHA 5 Panel N/N Dunskin Mare

If you like big, bold, and brave Breezy is your type. Photos don’t do this filly justice- she’s an absolute tank with massive bone and body. She has a nice start under saddle; soft in the face, catches both leads automatically, stops when you sit, moves off legs, etc. Never offered to buck/bolt/rear. The worst Breezy is capable of is an ear pin and a tail swish.
Has been very lightly started on the pattern and would call her a clean slate. Breezy has been hauled with to races and ridden in warm up pens with 0 problems. Grand stands, banners, announcers, she’s not phased at all. She’s been used for drill team/carry flags. Ponies well and ponies others. Breezy has been ridden out of the arena a bunch, too. Ridden through water, dense forests, and over rocky terrain. She is as confident in herself as a horse can be.
Stands tied, loads/hauls well, great for the farrier, and is not mareish at all. Clean legged with no previous injuries. Owner doesn’t have time to finish a young one- otherwise Breezy wouldn’t be available.

19 Year Old 15H AQHA Mare

Dottie has no idea what year she was born- what she does know is she loves being a barrel horse. She has been there, done that, and has a pretty automatic pattern. Stay out of her way and let her work. She’s not a barrel hitter and will only go by one if you ask her. She has never refused the gate but she does not want you holding on her either. I’ll say it again, stay out of her way and let her work. Dottie consistently places in the 3-4D in Arizona with a pretty cautious rider. Currently she runs low-mid 18s on a full standard. She clocked in the 1-2D with a more aggressive rider in the past and had ran many 17s on a standard. I think she’d easily be a 2D horse on the east coast as is. Warms up a little on the muscle but overall very easy.
Dottie is patterned on poles but has not worked them in a bit. When she was running consistently she was clocking low 22-23s with an occasional high 21. Current owner does not run poles so she would need a refresher.
Dottie trails rides nicely with a buddy. She is not spooky in the slightest but she is a hotter mare. If you want a relaxing ride out, a solo ride out is not it.
She is not fancy broke by any means but Dottie has a good handle. Easy walk/trot/lope. Catches both leads automatically, stops when you sit down, and moves off legs. Stands tied, loads/hauls well, easy to be around on the ground. Dottie will walk around at the trailer at races, she doesn’t do back cinches unless you jip her around first (at 19 I don’t think you’re going to fix this). She stands tied next to other horses like a gelding but can be mareish in her stall to other horses. Dottie has had 3 owners her whole life and wasn’t started on the pattern till she was 9. She requires stifle/hock injections and shoes all the way around.

Gretchen is said to be by a Driftwood stud and out of a grade mare. Listing as grade and not guaranteeing anything, but it may be possible to register her with the half quarter horse registry if someone wanted to do the footwork. Should mature to around 15H. Studs papers are in photos.
Gretchen is very well handled. She stands tied, picks up her feet, loads, bathes, and stands better than most adults to be trimmed. She’s a cute mover and has great bone and foot. Easy to catch and has a very easy going personality. Used to be around kids, dogs, chickens and doesn’t bat an eye. Be a fun project for a youth under adult supervision.

What Lacey lacks in size she makes up for in try. By Firewater on the Rocks and out of an Oklahoma Fuel mare. Handy broke and easy to be around. She is a hotter type/more forward riding mare and likes a quiet hand. She has a very fun style and makes the same run every time. She’s patterned on poles but hasn’t been entered/clocked. This mare has 0 gate issues but she is not the type that wants you to take her through time only a then enter her- you get 1 run. Would be a perfect step up for a handy youth.
Lacey stands tied, great to shoe, gets along with other horses, and overall is a doll to be around.
Lacey had a very successful kissing spine surgery 5/18/2022. Have before and after radiographs for those seriously interested. She will require her new rider to consistently ride her in collection.

For everyone wanting a nice horse on a budget, here she is. Ruby is said to have been started by a reined cow horse trainer in her earlier years and is decently broke. BIG stopper, cute slow jog and lope, a slow turnaround, decent neck rein and will move off leg. She has all the makings to go on and make a nice heel/breakaway horse or just keep as a riding horse. Most recently she’s been used to pony, track the dummy, and packed kids around under adult supervision. I’ve taken her out of the arena alone and she handled it well. All this being said, this mare requires an experienced handler- she is smarter than most people. She has convinced people she doesn’t stand tied or load in the past. She does both and spent a majority of this last summer being reminded of it. I do not want to see her end up somewhere she’s allowed to walk all over someone. She is very safe under saddle and it seems that her opinions are on the ground only. She stands to be groomed, saddled, bathed, and mounted. Not mareish, good to shoe, and an easy keeper. Sound with no maintenance. Has a scar inside of left cannon bone-don’t know what it’s from.

Easy to halter, stands tied, loads/hauls well, bathed, and good to trim. He is low man on the totem pole and will turn out fine with anyone. Listing as not broke but had a few rides earlier this year and didn’t offer anything funny. He will stand like a gentleman to be saddled just needs someone to be consistent with him. Riot is bred and built the part; by Slick By Design and out of Famous Royal Rhea, John Fame daughter. Riot has been handled extensively and is overall a gentleman to be around. Stands tied, loads/hauls well, and great to trim. He stalls next to and turns out well with geldings. He likes to talk to mares but that is the extent of it. Never bred anything or been collected. He is 5 panel negative through parents.
Listing as not started but had a few rides earlier this year and never offered anything funny. There will be no riding video. Owner has realized with work and kids Riot is not getting the attention he needs. Wanting to see him get the best opportunity to make it to the futurity’s.
No previous injuries, no scars or blemishes, he is a blank slate.

Tramp has won at every level. Suitable for any age. They don’t come more finished. Taken her owner through jr high, high school, college, amateur and pro rodeos. Not one bad thing to say about her and I’ve watched this mare go personally for over a decade. She gets previcox when being used hard. No funny business about her. She’s in shape and ready to go. Has had one foal with 0 complications and was a fantastic mom. Photos of her yearling in photos.

Another project for those on a budget

10yo 15H AQHA mare
This mare has been back burnered her whole life. She is broke. Owners had head horse intentions when they got her. Sent her to be ranched on but in conclusion she doesn’t do ropes. Rode out fine in rough terrain and gathered great- but she bucked when they roped a steer on her. Trainer/Rancher who had her trotted the barrels on her and thought she knew the pattern to some extent.
She is watchy on the ground and isn’t going to be your first horse. She lost some weight on the ranch does have some scratches from riding out in brush/rocks. Gaining back quickly and none of the scuffs are alarming. No maintenance needed. Ride now, breed later.

Stands tied, loads, good to shoe, not mareish, and sound.

She just isn’t going to make a rope horse.

It’s been the month of the grays 😍

Spud made his way to northern Nevada and

Olaf

12 Year Old 15H Grade Gelding

Olaf is Mr. Consistent. He’s the same whether you ride him daily or once every 6 months. He has never offered any funny business and has been a go to for beginner family members and kids- under supervision. He is uncomplicated to ride around in the arena. He is a little more forward with more experienced riders but comes right down for kids and beginners. Catches both leads, good stop, back, counter arc, etc. Stands to be groomed, saddled, and mounted. Great for the farrier, hauls well, stands tied, bathes, gets along with others, etc.
Olaf hasn’t been hauled much the last 6 months but was consistently placing in the 3-4D in Arizona. That is his sweet spot and I don’t see him making a 1D horse. No gate/alley issues, you could sit and watch the race on him with slack in your reins. It hasn’t been tried, but I believe you could trot the pattern on him at a race and he wouldn’t bat an eye. Handles warm up pens like a gentleman.
He has been trail ridden in the mountains, desert, through the city and it’s all the same to him. He is more confident out with a buddy but rides out safe alone for an intermediate rider.
Olaf has lightly been introduced to poles and gymkhana patterns. Ponies other horses and ponies well. He has no cattle or roping experience. Owner was told his parents were registered but that was never confirmed- he is grade.
He’s only looking for a new jockey because his owner stepped up and has a futurity c**t she’s running. It’s left little to no time for Olaf with her schedule. She would love to keep up with him on his new adventures.

When being ran consistently he was getting hock injections annually.
Vet checks are welcome.
