🐾 Bladder stones can be the cause of frequent, bloody urine in cats and dogs. There are many causes of straining to urinate (stranguria) and frequent urination (pollakiuria), so it is important to do screening tests. Make sure your vet obtains a sterile urine sample and performs a urine culture to screen for urinary tract infections. If signs persist - X-rays/imaging are important tools to look for stones!

😸These small urinary bladder stones were removed from this cat 🐈 via surgery. A cystotomy is surgery of the bladder to remove these stones!

☀️ We are lovin’ the great weather in Seattle! Sun’s out - we go out!
🚨 Summer Paw Safety🚨
When the weather is hot - remember concrete and asphalt can get extremely hot, causing paw burns

🥵 Air temp = 80F Concrete = 95F Asphalt 115F

Prevention is key!
Tips💡
🐶 Place back of your hand on the asphalt for 5 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog
🐶 Take walks during cooler hours - during sunrise 🌄 or sunset 🌅

Spring time means kitten season! 😻 This litter of kittens were rescued along with their momma - found on the streets as strays. They were vaccinated, dewormed, and ready for their new homes! 🏡

Vaccinations in cats 💉 including FVRCP are important - this is started around 6-8 weeks of age, and is boostered every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks.

🩸 FeLV/FIV testing is a simple blood test to make sure your kitten does not have these viruses. The FeLV vaccine series is started as a kitten, and is a 2 part series. Then, it is given yearly depending on lifestyle - especially for outdoor cats.

🐾 Rabies vaccine is given around 16-18 weeks of age, once. The purevax rabies vaccine is the safest for cats and is given yearly.

Ask us for more info on vaccines and how to get your kitten started to be healthy and happy! 🐈

Please visit your local shelter, Humane Society, or rescue to help foster!

🐶 Nothing is better than a good old before and after photoshoot from a dental cleaning!! Look at those pearly whites 🦷 (swipe over!) A dental, or more properly known as a “COHAT” is a Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment. A proper COHAT is performed under full general anesthesia, full mouth dental radiographs (xrays), full dental charting and scaling and polishing is performed.

🦷 This dog’s teeth … and breath… looks and smells so much better after the cleaning!

🐾 Unfortunately some dogs aren’t so lucky and need many extractions due to periodontal disease.

🦷 Dental disease can be prevented with proper oral hygiene - dental brushing, chews, water additives can be started at home to prevent tartar accumulation. Visit VOHC.org for a list of products approved for your dog and cats!
