Thanks to Tom V. Ellis for alerting me to this beautiful buddy

How safe is it to keep an FIV cat together with non-FIV cats? A natural concern for an owner, what are the real risks? We look at the evidence.

Tripod with feline leukemia in need of home - she’s a bit on the heavy side but gets around surprisingly well
Brought in as an owner surrender under the assumption that she need be euthanized. Supposedly she’d been vomiting and having diarrhea for quite some time - and knowing that she’d already been diagnosed with feline leukemia, I guess they figured it was just her time.... however when she got to us, it was all too apparent to me that she’s got a good bit of life left to her and we opted out of euthanasia. I’ve had her for about two weeks now and while she has had some loose stool - probably due to the stress of a new environment and being locked in a cage - she’s not had any uncontrollable diarrhea, vomiting, or any other symptoms of illness. She’s a sweet gal who just wants to be loved on - but I’m afraid we cannot let her free roam our home in fear of her infecting other cats and I can’t stand to see her cooped up so often as she is.
Located in perryville but I can provide transportation.

Pretty stoked to be a part of this! Looking forward to making improvements for ALL cats within our county. If you know of any outdoor cats in need of assistance, do not hesitate to contact your local humane society! DBCHS actually created a position for me last year and I’ve since trapped and housed over a hundred community cats who’ve all been neutered/spayed and vaccinated prior to their return back home.
DBCHS has some exciting news to share! We are honored to be chosen as a pilot shelter for The Humane Society of the United States Shelter Ally Project! The program will focus on developing comprehensive and humane support for community cats in and out of the shelter, ensuring a strategic and holistic approach to managing dynamic populations of cats in the county.

Just slapped together my first cat shelter for the local humane society and our buddy, Henry, couldn’t wait to check it out!
Join us this Saturday 10am-1pm at the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society to assist in making as many shelters as we can for all the community cats!

Sheba’s recovering pretty well but is excited to loose the cone and leave the crate! She’ll be going back to the vet to get her stitches removed tomorrow but I’m afraid she’ll not be returning to her colony and can only imagine how disappointed she’ll be when she realizes she’s a full time house cat now haha
Thanks so much for all of the support! Please be sure to share and if you can afford to donate, every bit is appreciated more than you know!

As we approach a month with this buddy, we’ve pretty well given up on finding where he came from and are thinking about adopting him out! He’s currently being treated for a urinary tract infection and is awaiting his appointment for neuter but oughtta be available as soon as the vet says he’s healthy!
In the meantime, please keep sharing his picture in hopes of locating his owners.
As always, thanks for the help and support in rescuing these buddies!!!

She’ll be going in to get stitches removed tomorrow

I know I’ve been slacking a bit this year so I really hate to ask for help but I pretty well exhausted my resources in these past few years and had to take a break from intake in hopes of digging myself out of the debt that I had accrued... although we haven’t been taking in so many rescues this year, there have been a couple cases that we just couldn’t resist helping with - along with some extra hiccups amongst a few of our long term rescues.... we’ve made a lot of improvements to the house and the local humane society even created a paid position for me as their community cat catcher (probably the most exciting thing to ever happen for me) but we’re still not out of hole yet and could really appreciate some extra help with this most recent hiccup. Please share the post about the German Shepard in hopes of locating his owners and if you can spare a couple bucks to assist with his checkup or Sheba’s surgery, it’d be very much appreciated! Links with more details on each of them provided below!

It’s now been over 2weeks since we found and trapped this beautiful boy! Although we’ve gotten well over a hundred shares on the initial post seeking his owners, we’ve still yet to locate his real home and have decided to call him Duke in the mean time. He’s a very well behaved dog and is wearing a nice collar so I can’t help but think SOMEBODY is looking for him! We’ll continue fostering him for a few more weeks in hopes of locating the proper owners but would really like to get him in to the vet for a checkup. He seems pretty healthy for the most part but is showing signs of UTI and we’d like to make sure it’s not anything more serious as well as get him neutered. We’ll be sure to post updates as we receive them. Thanks so much to all who’ve been sharing his picture in hopes of getting him back home!

Sheba, one of many community cats here in town, seems to have mangled her hind leg and is need of amputation. Being a colony cat, the vet has cut us a huge break and is charging significantly less than what this sort of procedure would normally cost but it’s still more than we can really afford given our current situation so once again we’re reaching out for help. Sheba’s at the vet now receiving antibiotics and is due to have her leg - or at least her foot - amputated tomorrow morning. So long as there are no further complications, we’ve been given an estimate of $450 for everything and suspect she’ll be home by Wednesday. If you can spare a couple bucks or share this post, every bit is greatly appreciated and helps more than you know!

Got the opportunity to rescue three baby raccoons after their whole world had come crashing down the other day. I set traps for mama but haven’t had any luck yet so we’ve brought the babies out to Cradle Of Critters Wildlife Rescue to be raised until ready for release!
Thanks so much for all you do, Terry!

Declawing, thankfully, is not an issue for ferals, but still this education needs to be shared.
The x-ray on the left is of a declawed cat's paw. The one on the right is a of a cat with intact claws.
A declaw is an amputation and not always a complete one. Bones grow back. It's like walking with pebbles in your shoes - for life.
Please don't think declawing fixes behavioral issues; it creates them. A lot of declawed cats are surrendered at pounds and shelters due to litter box problems (the cat is upset, in pain, or can't stand the feel of litter on its paws) or biting. A cat without claws has only one way to protect itself.
Please consider this information BEFORE making the decision to declaw your cats!

Lil miss Katie made another trip back to the vet today after some more tummy troubles 😕
Although these xrays are a couple months old, at the time they helped us to determine she had a partial blockage! After a week of nothing but wet food, she seemingly passed the blockage!:) Fast forward to this week, she’s feeling kinda funky again... After another trip to the vet, we’re hoping she might just need another week or so of nothing but wet food coupled with metronidazole however we fear she may require more xrays and potentially surgery.... Her first series of xrays cost slightly over $500 back in October so I’m afraid to hear what another round of xrays plus surgery might cost!
If anybody’s able to donate, it’s always much appreciated!
And if anybody would like to adopt this adorably chatty lil gal, she will be available as soon as we confirm what all is wrong with her! Hopefully she’ll just need to be spoiled with wet food for the rest of her life 😛

This sweet mama is ready for a forever vacation from motherhood! This was from the day we got our hands on Emma and her precious babies.
