National Lost Pet Prevention Month is observed every July. It serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of pet identification because losing a pet is a heart-wrenching experience that no pet parent should have to endure.

Pet Identification options:

1. Microchipping: A Lifesaver for Our Pets
This is a safe and simple procedure that involves implanting a tiny electronic chip beneath a pet's skin. This chip contains a unique identification number linked to the owner's contact information.

2. Visible Identification: Collars and Tags
In addition to microchipping, It’s important for pets to wear visible identification. A sturdy collar with an engraved tag displaying the owner's name and phone number can significantly increase the chances of a lost pet being returned.

Should you have a pet go missing:

Utilizing Technology: Pet-Finding Apps and Social Media in addition to notifying local veterinarians, police, and shelters.

Technology has revolutionized the way we approach lost pet prevention. Pet-finding apps and websites, as well as social media platforms, have become invaluable tools in reuniting lost pets with their owners.

By utilizing these platforms, pet parents can post information about their missing pets, share photos, and reach a wider audience quickly. They can also connect with services such as heatseeking drones. AI supports can help generate a search radius. All of which increases the chances of a successful finding and reunion.

Text or Call us at 845-393-1132 if you would like to schedule your pet a microchip appointment.

4th of July is almost here! Sharing some Pet Safety tips to help as you prepare for celebrations and family outings.

1. While you may be tempted to bring your pet with you to parties, fireworks displays, parades and other gatherings it is best to leave them home. Loud fireworks, unfamiliar places and crowds can all be very frightening to pets, and there's great risk of pets becoming spooked and running away.

2. If you’re hosting a party or gathering at your home, Consider putting your pets in a safe, escape-proof room or crate during parties and fireworks.

3. When hosting guests, ask them to help make sure they don’t escape by closing doors and gates. Placing notes on exit doors and gates can help both you and your guests remain vigilant.
Keep your pets inside if you or your neighbors are setting off fireworks.

4. Keep sparklers, glow sticks, fireworks, charcoal and kabob skewers away from curious pets.

5. Don't let pets get near your barbecue grill while it is in use or still hot.

6. Avoid the urge to feed your pets table scraps or other foods intended for people. Be especially careful to keep them away from common foods that are fine for people but toxic for pets.

7. Too much sun, heat, and/or humidity can be dangerous to pets. Keep them inside when it's extremely hot/humid. Ensure they have access to shady spots and plenty of water when outdoors. Our pets should not be outside for extended periods in hot weather. Watch for signs that a pet may be overheating or dehydrates.

8. Never leave your pet in your car when it's warm outside. Vehicle interiors heat up much faster than the air around them, and even a short time in a locked car can be dangerous to pets.

Pet Safety Tips for After the celebrations:

1. Check your yard for fireworks debris before allowing pets outside to play or relax. Even if you didn't set off fireworks yourself, debris can make its way into your yard, where curious animals may pick it up to play with or eat.

2. If you hosted guests, check both your yard and home for food scraps or other debris that might be dangerous to pets, such as food skewers.

What is your vision for including your pup on your special day? Don’t have one? I’m here to help!

The bride and groom wanted their pup to walk down the aisle. We stayed off to the side, in a calm down-stay until it was her time to shine! With a solid recall, I was able to let Daisy walk down the aisle to her dad so she could join in watching her mom come down the aisle next!

🥂 Don’t forget that your pups can be a plus one on your special day! 🥂

June is National Pet Preparedness Month

This was designated to remind pet owners to always include their furry friends in their emergency plans and preparedness preparation. As you think about your pet’s welfare in the case of an emergency, some tips to consider include:

1. Should you need to evacuate your home, have a plan for where to take your pet.
This may include researching nearby hotels, motels, or shelters that allow pets. You can also speak with nearby family and friends to see if they are able to help board a pet in the case of an emergency. Make sure to keep those phone numbers and addresses handy.

2. Have a toolkit or go-bag ready with essentials in the case of an emergency.
Some items that you can keep in a toolkit include: first aid supplies (such as gauze and nonstick bandages), leashes and/or carrier, copy of your pet’s medical records, photo of each pet, food and water.

3. Keep a sticker on your home’s windows and doors to tell emergency workers or neighbors that there are pets inside.
These stickers let emergency responders know to look for pets and indicate how many pets are inside the house.

Wishing our clients, friends, and your pets a wonderful and safe weekend. Memorial Day is a time of remembrance but for many it is also a time that involves outdoor activities, BBQ’s, and family fun.

For everyone that enjoys this holiday with their pets, here are some safety topics to keep in mind

Tip #1: Watch pets around hot grills. Yummy smells of the cooking food could tempt your pet to put their paws on the grill to try and reach the food. Small grills may also be knocked over.

Tip #2: Not all food safe for humans is safe for our pets to eat. Pets should be kept away from dishes that may contain raisins, grapes, onions, chocolate and avocado as these are all toxic to our pets.

Tip #3: Make sure guests coming in and out of the house are aware of pets and don’t allow them to accidentally escape.

Tip #4: Set up a safe place for your pet to retreat if they become uncomfortable around all the company. This gives them a place they can relax and enjoy the holiday weekend in peace.

Tip #5: Microchip. If your pet is already microchipped, this is a good time to go online and make sure it is registered and all your contact information is up-to-date.
