Weekends are for featuring shelter dogs from Meet Shadow!
Shadow is a two year old retriever mix from Georgia. Shadow was surrendered to the vet down south after his owner walked in, told them she was going to jail and asked to have him euthanized. There was no reason other than her being selfish. The vet took shadow in and reached out to our partner rescue desperate. The vet couldn’t morally euthanize such a happy and healthy dog but she had no where for him to go. Until now! Shadow is here, safe and a total goofball with that you will absolutely fall in love with. He has many facial expressions and the blue eye that makes him look even goofier when he’s playing, ADORES HUMANS, tries to be a lap dog ( he is 65lbs), avoids eye contact with the camera at all costs, gets a long great with other dogs and is truly a gem! Weekends are for highlighting shelter dogs from Candy has been with us for 8 months now. She is a 2 year old mixed breed. She is a very intelligent girl who needs structure, routine and a reminder here and there that ankles are not toys 🙃 Candy knows basic command, is trained on an E Collar, crate trained and will make a perfect hiking buddy. Candy does get along well with other dogs. She needs proper introduction and to get initial crazy out. Once she does she LOVES TO PLAY!! We’ve been taking candy on small field trips and it’s has helped tremendously getting her out of the shelter for a few hours. Candy has also been super lucky to have been able to have sleep overs here and there at one of our awesome volunteers Heidi’s house! She didn’t want to leave. We can’t blame her. She was so happy. She got to go for walks down town, sleep in a hoomans bed, and get spoiled rotten for a night. Candy needs a home with no kids under ten. We believe at some point small children were very cruel to her. Candy has come so far, but she needs out. Though she is now our “office dog” and hangs with us all day everyday, it’s not a consistent routine. Because we are tending to the other orphans and potential adopters. Please share this little lady. She really is an awesome dog! If you are interested in candy, please give them a call!

According to the American Kennel Club…In moderation, bananas are a great low-calorie treat for dogs. They’re high in potassium, vitamins, biotin, fiber, and copper. They are low in cholesterol and sodium, but because of their high sugar content, bananas should be given as a treat, not part of your dog’s main diet. That is why I include them in my Dash Cookie treats! - Rio aka Wyo the Chef
