This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of attending the annual conference of the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture in Seattle. This amazing continuing education opportunity provided lectures from legendary pioneers of veterinary acupuncture, celebrated specialists in internal medicine/neurology, and experienced colleagues in the veterinary community who utilize acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in their practices nationwide. Some of the topics included- Balance Method Acupuncture, Multi-Modal Therapy for Sport Horses, Acupuncture Analgesia: Understanding the Pain Pathway and the Effects of Acupuncture, Equine Motor Neuron Disease, Laminitis, and much more! I am bringing back with me an elevated understanding of the healing power that acupuncture creates within the body, the inspiration to utilize it at its fullest potential, a renewed passion and admiration for our incredible corner of the veterinary community and, of course, plans for my next step in always continuing to learn more and add to my toolbox.
