Are you tired of all the " omg my dog is pregnant " or " I couldn't get my pet spayed " posts on social media?

Help do something about it!

Stanislaus Animal Services Agency is urging our community to help get MORE spay and neuter services to our community through SB 1233.

Here's their plea:

Hello,

Please sign onto CalAnimal’s letter in support of SB 1233. If we can get this through the legislature, it will be immensely helpful in addressing the shortage of spay/neuter availability in our state. This bill will support the creation of high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter (HQHVSN) surgical training programs at the two veterinary schools in our state. Our state needs far more trained surgeons to assist our shelters and serve the public.

The appropriations committee needs to hear how critically important this is to all of us, so your signatures and logos would be immensely appreciated to help send that message.

A Message to Our Community

We are in desperate need of change.

While donations are incredibly helpful, what we really need are HOMES. We need foster homes or families to come forward and adopt a pet.

Can you PLEASE download this flyer and repost it and our message to your friends and family? You never know who would like to adopt a friend or foster.

Our rescue is overflowing. Every single day, we receive messages, emails, and calls asking us to take in more animals—often multiple at a time. Just today, I went to accept two animals and ended up returning with six.

We are one of the ONLY local rescue groups that accept exotic pets. Unfortunately, we must now close our doors to new surrenders until our current animals find their forever homes. We owe them security and stability.

We simply don't have the space or foster homes to accommodate any more animals. That is how desperate our situation has become.

Please do your part:

PLAN AHEAD. Many of these animals are unwanted pets from children or come to us due to moves. Before buying a pet for a child, consider if you, the parent, want this pet for the next 5-20 years. If you need to move, get on a rescue waitlist weeks in advance and actively try to rehome your pet by joining rehoming groups and posting them.

Rehome your pet responsibly. Ask potential new homes about their ability to meet your pet's needs and ensure they don't plan to breed them. There are already too many pets in need.

Consider adoption. Adoption is not an impulse decision. You will be coordinating with volunteers who care deeply about these animals and want you to thrive together. Work with us!

Please consider adopting or applying to be a foster home. Without the community's support and involvement, there will be nowhere for exotic pets to land safely during emergency situations.

We are part of Cali_FID Parrot & Exotics Rescue Sanctuary and our hearts are breaking every day we have to say " sorry, we can't ... "

I think this message can apply to many of the other small animal rescues in California too.
