This is Zeke. He is a 9 mo old Great Dane.
In this video, I am working on his basic obedience at a distracting location (Walmart.) This is his final day of training, I had him once before for two weeks, working on his Basic Obedience, and during this second two weeks stay with me, I worked on introducing him to the remote collar, as well as did environmental work with him.
He is such an amazing, sweet huge guy, I will definitely miss him!
Zeke and my doggie pool 😁❤
This is Zeke, he's a Great Dane around 8 months old.
In this video, I am working on his off-leash basic obedience, this is less than a week into his remote collar training with me.

Advanced Off Leash Dog Training
The last couple of weeks, I have been working with Kanute on the second half of his Advanced Obedience.
I have had Kanute for training three times prior to this, once for two weeks of Basics (level I), again for three weeks of Intermediate (level II), and a third time for 3 weeks, one week of remote collar introduction work and two weeks of Advanced training (level III). (See previous video posted on May 16 for the first half of his Advanced training that I did.) This is what I have been working on with him the last couple weeks, completing his Advanced level training.
I have been working with Kanute since he was 19 weeks of age. He is now 2 yrs old. I have really become attached to him! He is so special. It's been such a pleasure and wonderful journey working with him. Through the training, he has reached his full potential and has become such a fantastic and absolutely awesome dog. He is so happy and such a joy to be around. I love him!
Would like to give a shout out to his owners Aaron and Lyndsay, for investing in his future with all the training... You guys are amazing!!
** Thank You Christine for your help with the distraction work! ❤🥰
Kanute having a blast running through the tall grass... Those ears flapping and expression on his face of pure joy is priceless! 🥰😄❤
Many clients tell me, "I want my dog to listen to me when its off leash." Well, OK, but you have to put in the time with training to get to that point. After your dog learns all the basic commands and passes the basic obedience test, then, you need to train your dog to respond to all the basic commands (as well as the place command) reliably on a remote collar, even around heavy distractions. Once you get to that level, your dog can now enjoy more freedom, because you can control them on and off leash and not endanger them, other dogs or people.
You should not let your dog off leash in public without it being on a remote collar and without doing the proper training beforehand. Without doing these two things and letting your dog off leash in public, is how you and your dog will get into serious trouble because you cannot control them when distractions are present. They can easily run off, they can attack another dog, get into a dog fight by running up to someone's else's dog that isn't friendly that is nearby with their owner on leash, bite a person/child that is nearby, chase a cat, rabbit, squirrel, coyote and get lost, injured, or even killed in the process, and they can get hit by a car. All of these scenarios have happened to dog owners that had their dog off leash in public that wasnt trained to be off leash. You never know what will catch their attention and what they will do when off leash. It only takes one time for them to take off for disastrous results. Also remember that YOU are 100% responsible for all of your dog's actions in and out of your home. They are an extension of you. If they attack another dog or bite someone, you are liable. The remote collar is an invisible leash that assures that your dog will recall back to you no matter the circumstances, as well as heel, sit, down, and stay in their place even w
This is Zeke after 14 days with me for the level I (Basic Obedience) Board and Train. He is a 7 mo old Great Dane.
Zeke Cuteness 🥰
The majority of the client dogs I get for training have never seen a jolly ball before, but once they get to play with them while at my house, they love them! Zeke likes all of them, from the 6" to the 10" horse-sized ones, and of course, the ones with a rope through them... he tries to roll over onto them, lol ❤
He just turned 7 months while with me for training! 🎂🍦🍨

Kanute
After two weeks of Advanced Off-Leash Obedience Training with me.

This is Kanute.
He is a 15-month-old Rottweiler (with his tail! :) )
I had Kanute twice before for board and train, once for our Basic Obedience Level I, and again for our Intermediate Obedience Level II. Now I have him for our Advanced Obedience Level III. But first, I had to do a week of Remote Collar Introduction training with him because our Advanced Level is off leash. This video shows how he is doing after a week of remote collar training. Kanute has very high prey / play drives, especially for balls, so I did a lot of control work around his favorite balls that he likes to play with to reinforce his out of sight stays, the place command, his recall, and heeling commands while he is off leash.
One week of remote collar training is one of our Board and Train optional add-ons. (It is mandatory for our Advanced Obedience level.)

After working with 6-month-old Meeka for two weeks on our level 1 Basic Obedience, I then worked on Intermediate Obedience exercises with her for a week (one of our optional add-ons to our Basic and Intermediate training packages.)

The Importance of teaching your dog to "wait."
Besides teaching all of our Board and Train dogs obedience commands, we also teach them to "wait" at all doors and gates. This command could save their life someday preventing them from bolting out the front door, garage door, and out of your car door or your SUV's hatch door! This command is also used when you are putting something on your dog, like booties or a collar, when feeding them, and when wiping them down, to name some other reasons to teach your dog this command.
In the video below, I had 5 1/2-month-old Meeka for only a week for Board and Train, but already taught her to "wait" at all doors and gates....

The Importance of having a "Place" command for your dog.
This is almost 6 months old Meeka, I am working on her "Place" command while I have her for 3 weeks of Board and Train. This is day #5 of working on this command with her.
Everyone should have a place command for their dog. It helps keep them out of your way and out of trouble in many situations, such as when you have company over at your home, you are cooking or eating, watching a movie, painting, someone comes to your door, doing house or yard work, to name just several examples of when you can use this command. We teach this command to all of our Board and Train dogs.

I always try and introduce the client dogs I have for training to as many new things as possible. Today, Meeka got to play with my dog's herding ball 🥰

Working on control while 3 handlers play with their dogs in front of the others at my Intermediate obedience class on Saturday.
Here is a video of Ember at the end of her two-week Board and Train with me yesterday. She is a year and a half charcoal grey Labrador Retriever.
When I got her, she was horrible about jumping up on me and her owners constantly and would pull on leash like she was in the Iditarod. She also was horrible at doors and gates, bolting through them the minute you would open them. Additionally, she had no obedience training and wouldn't bring or release her ball when playing. She also was very timid and fearful, submissive peeing whenever she was interacted with... Look at her now!
This is 5-month-old Zeppelin.
In this video, I am working on her off-leash obedience and control at Home Depot. This is week #3 for her with me. This third week has been working on her off-leash skills. The first two weeks I had her, I worked on all of her new basic obedience commands.

This is Gustav.
I had him for a few weeks of Intermediate Obedience Training. His owners told me that he had issues with open stairs (stairs that you could see through.) He was terrified of them and wouldnt go up or down them. So, while I had him, I worked on building his confidence on a variety of different types of stairs. By the time I was done working on this with him, he became so much more confident and comfortable, that I could barely keep up with him, even on the "scary" open stairs!! 😊 The very last part of his training was teaching him how to heel nicely and SLOWLY up and down the stairs with me. He now heels awesomely with his owners on all stairs :)
This is Leo.
He is a 1-year-old Doberman Pinscher. I had Leo twice for training. In this video I was working on his obedience around distractions as well as off leash work.
This is North.
I had North for all three of our training levels. North was afraid to go into the water that was more than a few inches deep. He was not a confident swimmer at all. So, I worked a lot on his confidence in deeper water and on swimming. You can see in this video how he progressed with his confidence and swimming ability.
